Arctic Through a Camera Lens

Alexander Porokhin, Institute of Science and Technology student, saw the Arctic not only with his own eyes, but through the camera’s viewfinder. "Every sea voyage was especially interested. The first expedition was а full of emotions. I saw for the first time: the ice, icebergs, seals, different optical phenomena, original Earth's horizon near the poles, Arctic landscape of island… Even the rocking and the storm I was eagerly waiting for! The second expedition began with the fact that we were taken to Svalbard. There were four flights and sea voyage with a lot of equipment. I have the most vivid impressions from giant glaciers and the atmosphere that was in our team field crew. There were deers, wandering around the Arctic towns looking like our dogs.

The Arctic has the rapid weather change therefore it’s difficult to photograph it. Heavy snow begins every five minutes. I can land from vessel to shore by boats, which are often filled with water. I had to pack the camera in the packages, because the sea water is dangerous for equipment."

«В эту субботу в Северном морском музее мы покажем фильм "Услышать, как растёт трава". Создание фильма ─ это всегда коллективный труд. Успех нашего фильма в том, что каждый сделал всё возможное и невозможное для воплощения общей идеи. 80 часов отснятого видео в экстремальных экспедиционных условиях, множество проектов компьютерного дизайна, более семи вариантов сценария, озвучивание и восстановление „бракованного“ звука, круглосуточный монтаж и перемонтаж. Но итогом мы довольны! Этот фильм принёс нам два ГРАН-ПРИ и победы на международных кинофестивалях».
