The life of the author has much in common with the life of her hero – It was not always easy. J.Rowling was born on the 31 of July 1965 in a small town near Bristol, England. This is the same date of birth as HP has.

After divorce she lived on a public assistance in a tiny Edinburgh flat with her infant daughter. Then she wrote her first book named "HP and the Philosopher's stone" and it was HP that rescued her from poverty. The first book was a hit for both - children and adult readers.

I always try to follow this rule. Fortunately, my friends don't fall ill frequently. But I remember such a case that happened about 12 months ago. One of my best school friends fell ill with a hard form of flu. Soon I went to his place to see him. I took some things that, as I was expecting, were interesting for him. Among them I brought a videotape with the best game moments of National Basketball Association. He was very happy about this present and soon we were both enjoying the outstanding games of the strongest basketball league in the world. Then I told him all the latest school news and everything about the material we had passed when he was absent.

All these cards are brightly and coloured. Most of big cities of G.B., especially London, are decorated with coloured lights and cristmas trees. On Trafalgar Square, in the center of London stands a big cristmas tree. It is a gift from the people of Oslo. It is over 50 feet high. Many families celebrate cristmas day in the open air near the cristmas tree in order to catch the spirit of cristmas. Children find cristmas presents in their stockings. The traditional english dinner on cristmas is turkey and pudding. Other great holidays are: Father's day, Mother's day, Halloween and other.

It will help you to know more about the history and life of different nations and countries.One cannot speak about England without speaking about it's traditions and customs. They are very important in the life of English people. Englishmen are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up. There are six public holidays a year in G.B.. Cristmas day is one of their favorite holidays. It's celebrated on the 25th of December. There are some traditions connected with it. One of them is to give presents to each other.

What do you want to be when you grow up? We have heard this question many times during our school years. Perhaps, it was difficult for us to give a definite answer earlier. But now we understand that the time to choose our future profession has come. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Centuries ago there were only a few jobs: people were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters.

I want to become an interpreter because of some reasons. It is an interesting profession because an interpreter meets people from different countries and cultures all the time and has an opportunity to learn much about them. Besides, this profession is very useful because it helps people to understand each other.
