" No Dogs, No Americans!". Why Does the World Hate America? (And Why So Many Americans Do Too)
From Iraq to TikTok bots, from self-hate to global jealousy, anti-American sentiment has been brewing for years.
What happened to the “Beacon on the Hill” that once inspired millions?
Kai Franchise breaks down:
• The wars that reshaped global opinion
• The rise of propaganda and misinformation
• How jealousy, hypocrisy & history collide
Anti-American sentiment is not monolithic, nor always unfair: many criticisms are valid, grounded in real harms. But some stem from misunderstanding, exaggeration, or propaganda.
What Americans (both ordinary citizens and policy makers) can do:
Be more humble in foreign policy; less unilateralism, more listening.
Confront and teach more fully the darker parts of U.S. history, so people see not an ideal, but a striving democracy with flaws.
Live up to stated values: human rights, equality, global responsibility (climate, refugees, diplomacy, etc.).
Be welcoming hosts to tourist as well as immigrants, be informed and culturally sensitive tourists, students.
Understand that every place is not America.
And ALWAYS be proud of who you are and when you come from
