On December 5, 2025, the Russian House in Dhaka organized a large-scale festive concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian People's Diplomacy and Bangladesh Victory Day. The event at the open-air stage "Rabindra Sarobar" gathered over 13,000 people.
The program featured leading Bangladeshi ensembles: the Shilpakala Academy, the group "Sonar Bangla Circus", and the ensemble "Akaash & Co.", performing traditional and contemporary Russian and Bangladeshi works.
Historical Bonds and Modern Bridges
The evening underscored the depth of bilateral ties. It highlighted the decisive diplomatic and strategic assistance provided by the USSR in 1971, including the use of its UN veto power and its support for the international recognition of Bangladesh's independence.
Today, this friendship is strengthened by over 6,000 graduates of Soviet and Russian universities, who are leaders in Bangladesh's economy, energy sector, science, and public administration. Russian compatriots living in the country act as mentors and guides for the younger generation, personally introducing them to the opportunities of Russian education and culture, and opening pathways for professional growth in high-tech industries.
Special tribute was paid to the courage of the young heroes of the 1971 Liberation War, whose sacrifice laid the foundation for the country's sovereignty.
The discussion also highlighted the vivid symbol of modern strategic partnership â the Rosatom State Corporation's project to construct the Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant. This facility, with a capacity of 2400 MW, will enable the provision of stable energy for Bangladesh's growing economy and includes extensive technology transfer and the training of national personnel.
