🔴🔵 Trendy classics. CSKA Handball identity restyling
Leadership in sports always poses challenges in branding and marketing as well. To communicate with fans effectively, CSKA handball club decided to refresh its identity. The most important task of the Studio was to maintain ties with the club traditions and express the identity of men's and women's teams.

FC Torpedo X Quberten

For the big year of one of USSR and Russia's iconic clubs, Q10 developed an identity built around the main symbols of Car factory workers: the 'T', a gear, and a racing car.

Key elements of the logo were graphically adjusted. The 32-tooth wheel was geometrically modified while the additional emblem version assumes a turn of the car with a forward and upward motion vector.

The classic letter 'T' acquired more balanced Bezier curves. Сlub's anniversary lettering was based on T's simplified version and developed into additional elements 'ВЕКТОР', '1924', and 'TMCF'.

Quberten's debut project in film industry. We created an identity for "Molodezhka" series.

The popular TV show about hockey team is back after five years. In the seventh season, the viewer gets not only new intrigues but also an updated style. The new series logo and full-fledged style of the Sharks team dive into the sports cinematic universe.

🇨🇦 New project alert. Identity of the Canadian Lacrosse League

Lacrosse is a Canadian national sport with a centuries-old history and therefore, the League's identity should be associated with the entire nation.

The logo combines a recognizable maple leaf with two important lacrosse elements: a stick and a feather, a symbol of the North American indigenous peoples. The elements not only complete each other in a main logo but can also be used as independent sub-logos. The main logo is adapted for color mimicry for the jerseys and marketing communications.

It is nice to know that in such difficult times we remain in demand abroad, especially in North America, the center of sports design and entertainment. It was especially interesting to work on a discipline that is new to us, which is also the national sport of Canada.

Our client HC Traktor has done a beautiful case of using the logo in a very creative and engaging way on social media.

They posted a few nature landscapes with an integrated club logo and a caption "Wherever you are, Traktor is always at your side".

It's a pleasure to see how our work organically fits the connection between the club and the fans.

SKA-Neftyanik identity development. Quberten developed the design of game kits, merch, and a set of sub-logos for one of the bandy top clubs.

The main logo underwent minor technical adjustments, and the pack of alternate logos was distributed across a wide range of SKA associations and identities: victories in the USSR/Russian and Super Cup, stylized coats of arms of Khabarovsk. Taking into account the proximity to China, a simplified emblem was made with lettering in Russian and Chinese.

The kits are built on a pixel gradient. This cool effect involves a smooth transition of colors in the distance and more distinguishable graphics in close-up TV shots. Sublimation sweaters are common for the sport of bandy, but SKA-Neftyanik uses embroidered jersey numbers, players' names, and all additional elements.

The goalkeeper kits are presented in two sets. Unlike field players' uniforms, the graphics on goalie jerseys are made using random pixel spots to "break up" the goalkeeper's figure.

adidas Football and Nike Football released their new international kits ahead of summer tournaments. Both companies share two major trends: fabric detailing and more in-depth use of shorts. Here is a closer look at this rivalry:

adidas:
▫️ New design feels retro nostalgia of early 2000s when the jerseys were cut with smooth anatomical lines and arcs. adidas’ attention to shorts is separately worth noting. Shorts continue the uniform graphics and finalize the whole uniform image.
▫️ Germany is probably their top item. Cool graphic transitions from black through red to yellow on the home kit and use of trendy colors on the away version make the Bundesmannschaft the main freshmen of adidas. And the most unusual item is the Belgium away kit inspired by Erzhi's The Adventures of Tintin.
▫️ The headliner of adidas' bold style is the Mexican national team. Like Nigeria at Nike, Mexico uses a very proactive design that successfully combines football and fashion.

Nike:
▫️ Distinguishing feature of Nike from adidas is the innovative “Liteflex crest”. The logos became more voluminous and readable.
▫️ Nike also showed several options for collars, the most revolutionary and cool is the square collar on Nigeria's kit. The Super Eagles traditionally stand out. Nike regularly uses the most daring fashion solutions from the street culture in the team's design.
▫️ Team USA famously integrates the timeless tie-dye style. The holographic print on the Korean national team uniform looks powerful. Croatia is playing with its checkers again, making them bolder.

HC Amur x Quberten

▫️ In the 2023/24 season, the Tigers made the playoffs for the first time in six years. This important achievement will be associated with the new kit and another successful project of HC Amur and Quberten.

▫️ The orange and white kits are made in the same style and differ in the color accents of the elements. A distinctive feature of the sweaters is color block inserts on the sides. The font and perforation of the jersey numbers were preserved from the alternative KHV set, dedicated to the connection between HC Amur and aviation.

▫️ A special sublogo is responsible for the Far Eastern identity - the coat of arms of the Khabarovsk Region updated with club colors and sports aesthetics, as well as black and orange stripes of offset lines, creating a glitch and the image of a tiger.

HC Salavat Yulayev x Quberten

▫️ For the 2023/24 KHL season, we developed three versions of the Ufa team's jerseys: home green, away white, and an alternative black. Bashkortostan heritage is integrated into each jersey. And of course, the national hero, poet-storyteller after whom the club has named Salavat Yulaev has his special place – the inside collar is decorated with one of the lines of his poem The Battle – “And I’m getting ready to go into battle again".

▫️ The whole jersey concept is standing on honeycomb symbols and forms. For many centuries Bashkiria has been known for its beekeeping industry. Also, the hexagons symbolize hard work and teamwork which are must-have hockey values. We reflected this by using "ӨФӨ" (Ufa in Bashkir) Three bolts symbol on the sleeves and in jersey numbers. The font of the numbers also has the same shape, and an additional uniqueness is given to them by the perforation inside each number. The bottom of the number is adorned with a stylized inflorescence of seven petals of the kurai flower – a symbol of friendship and unity of the peoples of Bashkiria.

▫️ An eye-catching neon jersey has received an important update – the thickness of the stripes on the sleeves of the alternative jersey follows the lines on the club logo, maintaining a graphic logic.

👑 One team, two generations, three stripes

▫️ Real Madrid C.F. and Y-3 celebrated ten years of collaboration with a new lifestyle collection. The presentation links the generations in the design and the history of the Galácticos. The collection is represented by the two Los Blancos fives: the legendary one is Zinedine Zidane and the acting young superstar Jude Bellingham. It also featured David Alaba and Real Madrid women's Naomie Feller.

▫️ Turned out to be a small collection with a black leather jacket as the headliner. Which is a complete antipode to Off White's American-style varsity jackets with lots of patches and colors.

▫️ The collection is inspired by Japanese minimalism and Yamamoto’s asceticism, and given the current trend for ornamentation, this step is another cool thing.

Local culture, unique stories, and girl power. Massive league-wide kit reset by Nike Football and the National Women's Soccer League

▫️ Every year NWSL delivers a sensitive and joyful approach for the kits, but the 2024 season is special. For the first time, Nike has built primarily and secondary kits for all 14 teams by emphasizing each club's identity.

▫️ Almost all the kits look cool. Let's highlight San Diego with its sunny Californian vibe, the argyle style of Louisville, and the citrus print of Orlando, which gloriously retains femininity. Traditionally, Gotham is good in a mix with a contemporary club's badge and symbols.

▫️ The lifestyle presentation deserves a special mention. Some looks are expressed in a trendy blokecore style. It's a perfect match of fashion and football, and the kits are great for players on the pitch and fans in their lifestyle self-expression.

🟡 New logo 433. The world's largest football community with 115M+ followers revealed this recently.

▫️ Perhaps they shouldn't have made these changes. The previous logo was fairly simple, unified, and well-recognizable. Simplification with black four on yellow felt more like football with a retro vibe like for example, Nike had on their kit numbers enclosed in a circle a couple of decades ago.

▫️ The new logo 433 is an attempt to do something more trendy and digital, but the meanings embedded in it seem a little far-fetched. The symbols like "hitting the ball", and "running" are difficult to read due to the serious disproportion of the legs.

▫️ Another problem is the discrepancy between the fours and threes. They are drawn according to different principles: the construction of corners, and crossing lines don't have a common system.

Unexpected but massive redesign. L.A. Clippers revealed the new logo, style, and uniform for the 2024-25 season.

We might not expected such changes also because the previous logo was a new school style – flat and radically minimalistic. The Clippers were already ahead of many sports brands with their previous identity. But there's no need to be surprised: the NBA is the most aggressive league when it comes to marketing and visual communications. As well as North American basketball is by far the main trendsetter in sports design. Let's prove it again:

▫️IDENTITY. It turned well in the exploration of clipper ships and naval vessels of San Diego Harbor. The logo is adaptive and easily switches into sub-logos, which apply to different formats. There are also calligraphic elements and signs based on historical versions but reinterpreted with the context of the new logo.

▫️UNIFORM. Jerseys and shorts also have a retro vibe, but in general, it's a new entity. Fascinating detail is the "LAC" abbreviation written by the signal flags as well as other cool perks inside the uniform.

▫️Fun fact: we used similar images and techniques in the HC Admiral project: compass, signal flags, flag semaphore, and Morse code. The Navy is always great for inspiration 🌊

FC Pari NN restyling x Quberten

RPL is finally back and we are pleased to present the delicate restyling for the football club from Nizhny Novgorod. Let's dive into the key points from our work:

▫️Now the club badge is based on clear angles and the geometric rhythm of vertical elements. It also has become visually cleaner, and also the PARI logo has received a stable platform.

▫️The letters “H” and the PARI logo now work together – they have a common tilt angle, which is the base for OOH advertising, social media and merchendise keyvisuals.

▫️Branded patterns are based on chainmail weaving, geometric forms of Nizhny Novgorod buildings and stadium which are important parts of the region's traditions;

HC Admiral × Quberten

HC Admiral from Vladivostok is firmly connected with the sea and ... with Quberten. Over the past years the club has come a long way and the identity required updating.

Originally, the logo featured the admiral's star as an alternative, but it eventually became the primary choice. Later, a rope was incorporated into the emblem design, mirroring the placement of the element on the officer's cockade in the Russian Navy.

The signature gold color has been adjusted in favor of a noble shade. The color palette now consists of gold, black, and white, with a distribution ratio of 40-40-20.

The revised alternative sublogo draws inspiration from the wind rose on a meteorological chart. Alongside the compass and navigator, the letters A and V representing Admiral and Vladivostok, respectively, are enclosed within the sublogo.
The coat of arms of Primorsky Krai has been reinterpreted to match the sports aesthetics.

Maritime connections with Vladivostok locals offers a wide field for creating patterns. In addition to the line of rigging loops and knots inside the pack, there is an abstract star ornament and two other versions based on flags from the naval code of signals.

99 Racing × Quberten

For the twelfth season of the Asian Le Mans Series, the studio has created a racing car livery design for the 99 Racing team.
The polished 99 sign in the team logo is a reference to the race number. The numbers resemble the claw marks of an animal. The new brand colors are black, white and fluorescent orange.
The mixed pattern combines an animalistic vibe with a tech glitch. In combination with the signature color, this gives the prototype a swift and predatory appearance.
The racing suit also retains the overall style and gives the team a sporty and aggressive identity.

PBC Runa × Quberten

Runa stands out in the Russian basketball community with bold marketing aimed at youth audience, modern management and a bright visual style. In 2023 the studio made an identity redesign for the only private professional club in Russia now playing in a major basketball league.

The logo has been rebuilt in view of current trends. The famous horned helmet has been preserved, while the image has been simplified: it has become flat with less details. In addition to the main logo, a set of sublogos has been developed. It continues the “Scandinavian” theme: axes, a bearded Viking, a drakkar and a raven.
The club colors have also changed: purple has become the main one. The saturated green color used earlier has been transformed into a technological fluorescent color and has become an accent.
The two-core system is used not only in the construction of lettering and numbers, but also in the edges and cuffs of the main set of uniforms. An asymmetrical stripe with a sublogo visually highlights the game kit.
