Depeche Mode have set the date for one of their most ambitious projects yet. Their upcoming concert film, M, will premiere in cinemas worldwide on October 28, 2025, in a limited engagement spanning over 2,500 theaters across more than 60 countries.

The film, first unveiled in April and greeted with high praise at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year, captures the band’s three sold-out performances at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium during their Memento Mori world tour in 2023–2024. Beyond the live spectacle, M delves into the deep cultural and symbolic connections between music, mortality, and Mexican tradition.

Directed and conceived by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, the project blends concert footage with a narrative exploration of Mexico’s relationship with death — an ever-present theme in its art and celebrations. Frías, known for his Ariel Award-winning film I’m No Longer Here and 2023’s I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me, brings a cinematic and culturally rooted perspective to the project.

However, now the country's major music organizations are seeking a different kind of domestic assistance: tax breaks, meaning the ability to pay less taxes to the government.

According to Korean media outlets like Chosun Biz, five influential music industry associations have formally appealed to the government. They want the music sector to receive comparable support to what's already extended to other popular creative fields – for example, video game development and the creation of popular digital comics (webtoons). Industry representatives are stressing that this is unfair. They point to the global hit, BTS's "Dynamite" music video, which, despite its massive worldwide recognition, doesn't qualify for tax deductions – unlike a successful blockbuster film or webtoon. Therefore, they are pressing for music to be included in the broader, comprehensive national policy supporting all cultural and entertainment content.

Spanish officials have fined the production team behind Katy Perry’s Lifetimes music video for filming inside a protected zone without proper authorisation. The incident took place on s’Espalmador, a dune-covered islet within the Ses Salines National Park in the Balearic Islands, a site with strict conservation rules.

An investigation launched in July 2024 confirmed that the local production company responsible for the shoot failed to secure required permits from the Balearic Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries. Authorities determined the breach to be “serious” but did not impose additional sanctions, citing the absence of lasting environmental damage.

India's most iconic, longest-running, and largest electronic dance music (EDM) festival, Sunburn, which kicked off in Goa in 2007, is now making a big move to the city of Mumbai. Organizers polled their fanbase and found a strong desire for the festival to be more accessible and offer something fresh beyond Goa. Mumbai emerged as the clear frontrunner among their preferences, and that wish has now been granted, with organizers promising an even grander experience due to stronger infrastructure and improved accessibility for attendees.

In another significant development, Sunburn will also be moving its dates earlier, shifting away from the crowded New Year's period to early December 2025, specifically from December 19-21. This isn't Sunburn's first rodeo when it comes to location changes; the festival previously had a stint in Pune from 2016-2018 before returning to Goa in 2019. It was also at this time that it was acquired by BigTree Entertainment, the parent company of the popular ticketing platform BookMyShow, which also produces another major festival, Lollapalooza India, also held in Mumbai.

In an interview released on August 6, MGK made it clear he’s unfazed by persistent criticism. “The hate for me has become so pop culture that it’s almost like that’s automatically what you say to fit in,” he said, dismissing his detractors as “conformists.” According to him, they don’t dislike him for what he does — they dislike him because hating MGK is “trendy.”
