AR kicks again!
Not so long ago, we wrote that the immersive technology market will grow by the powers of the largest market players. So it’s started! On August 16, Lamoda (one of the biggest fasion online-retailer around the world) took a big step toward the AR.
Why do you need 3D scanning when you can go straight to the neural network AR? Lamoda skiped this stage and lunched a full AR fitting on their iOS mobile appliacation. The new feature was created by Wannaby.
Software 3D geometry algorithms works clearly, the model quickly and accurately determines the position of the foot. Still, it is difficult to say how accurately it determines the required size of the model.
This functionality is available only for iOS devices. We tested it on iPhone Xs Max. Probably, on the single camera devices, 3D model can be not so stable: such technologies are highly dependent on the quality and quantity of information received, and, as you might imagine, two sources of information in this case are better than one.
We assume that the cost of such a development can vary from $150 thousand to $200 thousand. The development includes a full-fledged mobile application with showcases of goods that the user can try-on with the built-in AR camera. Each category of goods (glasses, shoes, caps, rings, etc.) needs a certain algorithm, developed and trained by a neural network. Earlier in this year, Wildberries (Lamoda’s competitor) suggested to their customers conduct 3D foot scans. This technology aimed to improve the web-site’s algorithms of the shoe model size selection. We think, that the combination of these two technologies can create a worldwide quality standard AR experience for consumer market.
