Morris Vincent Wins SWAL Best Print Sports Journalist Award
Liberian international sports journalist Joseph Morris Vincent has been crowned Best Print Sports Journalist of the Year at the second edition of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) Awards Ceremony held at the SKD Sports Complex Board Room in Paynesville.
Vincent, who reports for The News Newspaper, emerged victorious in a competitive category that featured fellow journalist Thomas Kojo Roulhac of The Liberian Investigator Newspaper. His winning entry, โThe Rise of Womenโs Football in Liberia: From Margins to Momentum,โ was recognized for its depth, impact, and contribution to highlighting the growth of womenโs football in Liberia.
The award marks another significant milestone in the career of the former SWAL Chaplain General, who is currently pursuing a Masterโs degree in Communication and Media Studies at Mount Kigali University.
Despite being abroad for studies, Vincent has continued to make meaningful contributions to Liberian sports journalism.
Widely known among sports followers as โJournalist Messi,โ Vincent has steadily built a reputation for excellence in sports reporting.
The latest recognition represents his fourth individual journalism award and brings his overall award tally to seven, including three collective honors earned with media teams and organizations.
A CAF-accredited sports journalist, Vincent was also among the select group of Liberian journalists who covered the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, further enhancing his international experience and profile.
Following his victory, Vincent expressed gratitude to those who have supported his journey.

He paid special tribute to senior journalist Christopher Walker for his mentorship and guidance, while also acknowledging media veteran Roland Mulbah for his continuous encouragement and support.
Vincent further thanked The News Newspaper management and editorial team, including Editor J. Molly Scott, as well as Prince Parker, Pa Chea, Jimmey Fahngon, and George Badue, for providing him with the platform to grow professionally.
