Pakistan Completes Historic 5G Spectrum Auction!
Pakistan successfully completed its historic 5G spectrum auction on March 10, 2026. PTA sold 480 MHz spectrum to Jazz, Zong and Ufone, generating $507 million (Rs142 billion) in government revenue.
Who got what:
🥇 Jazz — 190 MHz (biggest buyer)
🥈 Ufone — 180 MHz
🥉 Zong — 110 MHz
What's next:
5G pilot projects will soon launch in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, with internet speeds expected to jump from 4 Mbps to 20 Mbps.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima stated that Pakistan has now overcome its spectrum shortage, reached regional benchmarks, and joined the world's top 7 5G markets globally.
