What’s happening in Nairobi today is tragic.
No justification exists for a government or its sympathizers to unleash hired goons on peaceful demonstrators. It is not only immoral, it is dangerous.
I speak not from theory, but from experience. I was in the CBD when the so-called “business community” launched violent attacks in defense of this very government during the Azimio led Uchumi demonstrations. That moment, like today, remains etched in memory as a failure of political morality.
Some may frame what’s happening now as political payback, a response to shifting allegiances and realignments. But that logic is flawed and toxic.
We must resist it.
The streets are sacred.
They are the last stronghold of the people when all other institutions have failed. The one place where our voices unite not for politicians, but for justice.
We must not allow the streets to be captured by any political side.
Let no party, no regime, no agenda hijack the voice of the people.
Set the streets free.
For without them, we lose the last space where truth can still roar.
