PARENTS, PLEASE TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT SEXTORTION.
I received an email recently from a scammer, who threatened to release a video of me "pleasuring myself" while watching a "gay p**n".
The scammer asked for $950 sent to a bitcoin wallet or he will send the video to all my contacts as he has access to my contacts after hacking my phone.
Well, I blocked the email and trashed the mail as I thought its a bluff because all he described can never me.
Then I got on Twitter and saw news of a white teenage boy that took his life because of sextortion by Nigerian scammers.
This was when it dawn on me the need to write about this.
Their pattern is in two ways:
1. Pretend to be an internet lover. Then overtime ask for exchange of nudes. There, you realise the person is fake and scammer then you get caught in an unending blackmail.
2. The one they sent to me. Pretend to have gotten access to your camera, ask you to send money to prevent them sharing it.
When you engage them and ask to confirm they have the n*de, they send a link that once you tap on it they will hack your account.
Sometimes, they use this tactics because they presume a huge number of people watch po*n and mast*rbate.
Then you get a malware, that upon clicking on it, they could hack your camera and record you in the act then use it to blackmail you.
The target is mostly teenage boys, who can't help themselves.
Please advice your children.
