‏💫 Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness

‏Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is:

‏اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت

‏The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

‏[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306]

‏Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant.

‏Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

O Allāh, all praise belongs to You, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. You are the One who hears our every call and knows every burden within our hearts.

O Allāh, we are weak, so strengthen us. We are burdened, so lighten our burdens. We are in hardship, so bring us relief.

O Allāh, open the doors we cannot open, make easy what seems impossible, and grant us relief from places we never expected.

Give us patience through our trials and strengthen our trust in You.

You are our Protector, our Helper, and upon You alone we rely. Ameen.
