When Christians and church mugus are asked difficult questions about their faith, one response often comes up: “The human mind cannot understand the works of God.”
But how can a religion claim to have a divine book, while at the same time telling people not to use their minds to question, examine, and understand what is written in that book?
If God gave us intellect, why should we be afraid of using it?
Questions should not be treated as a threat to faith. If something is true, it should be able to withstand sincere questions and honest examination.
And then there is another important question: the writers of the New Testament were not all eyewitnesses of Jesus. So naturally, one has to ask: Who witnessed these events? Who transmitted the accounts? And how did the teachings reach us?
This is one of the reasons I say:
Alhamdulillah for Islam.
A faith that encourages reflection, reasoning, questioning, and seeking knowledge. The Qur’an repeatedly calls people to think, reflect, and use their understanding.
Truth should not fear questions.
