Reminiscing Dubai, circa 2007.

Behind me once stood the construction of what was then called Burj Dubai now known to the world as the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building ever built by man.

It’s hard to believe that 21 years have passed since I left the very place where my journey as an OFW began back in 2004.
Every beam of steel and every grain of desert sand still holds a memory of dreams, sacrifices, and the hope that built who I am today.

GHOST PROJECT’ – Ipinakita ni Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon ang mga dokumento sa media noong Huwebes (Sept. 25, 2025) kaugnay ng nadiskubreng PHP96.5 million flood control project sa Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

Ayon kay Dizon, idineklarang “completed” ang proyekto noong 2022 kahit hindi pa tapos, at ang contractor na St. Timothy Construction Corporation ay fully paid na noong October 2022.

Saudi Arabia Freezes Rent in Riyadh for 5 Years

Riyadh, September 25, 2025 — Nag-announce ang Saudi Arabia ng bagong rental regulations sa capital city na may five-year rent freeze para sa residential at commercial properties. Ang hakbang na ito ay inaprubahan ng Council of Ministers at pinagtibay sa pamamagitan ng royal decree, ayon sa direktiba ni Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Ayon sa General Real Estate Authority, ang bagong rules ay ginawa para ma-stabilize ang mabilis na pagtaas ng renta, magbigay ng transparency, at maging fair sa parehong tenants at landlords. Sa ilalim ng batas, hindi pwedeng magtaas ng renta sa Riyadh hanggang 2030.

Lahat ng rental contracts ay kailangang i-register sa Ejar platform. Contracts will auto-renew unless may notice na ibinigay 60 days before expiry. Landlords cannot refuse renewal kung gusto ng tenant magpatuloy, maliban na lang kung:

1. Hindi nagbayad ng renta ang tenant,

2. May safety issue na may official technical report, o

3. Kailangan ng landlord o immediate family ang property.

Kung may violation, pwedeng multahan ang landlord ng hanggang 12 months’ rent, at ang whistleblower na magsusumbong ay pwedeng makakuha ng 20% ng collected fines.

Authorities will monitor implementation, track rental price movements, and report directly to the Crown Prince. Ang hakbang na ito ay bahagi ng efforts ng gobyerno na magdala ng balance, fairness, at predictability sa housing at commercial rental market ng Riyadh.
