Al-Ghamamah Mosque (Masjid Al-Musalla), located southwest of Al-Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah, is a sacred place where the Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί performed Eid prayers, Salat al-Istisqa (prayer for rain), and the funeral prayer in absentia for the Negus (King of Abyssinia).
This was the last location where the Prophet ο·Ί led Eid prayer. The mosque earned its name βAl-Ghamamahβ (meaning βcloudβ) because a cloud is said to have shaded the Prophet ο·Ί during the rain prayer.
Originally built during the Umayyad rule by Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, it has been restored multiple times under Saudi leadership.
