From July 3–10, athletes from eight provinces, including Honiara, will come together under the theme “Rise Together.” This year’s competition will showcase seven sporting codes, with athletes competing in world-class facilities developed for the Pacific Games.

Organisers have also introduced stricter eligibility requirements, ensuring athletes represent only their province of origin.

More than just a sporting event, the Solomon Games continue to strengthen unity, sportsmanship, and talent development across the nation

Gillian Oti proudly represented Solomon Islands at the World Urban Forum (WUF) in Baku, Azerbaijan, a global United Nations (UN-Habitat) conference focused on cities, housing, and sustainable urban development.

During the forum, she highlighted the urban development challenges facing Solomon Islands and emphasized the growing impacts of climate change on local communities, bringing the country's voice to an important international platform.

Members of the media were today given the first public tour of the new Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre, offering a closer look at one of the country's largest health infrastructure projects.

The modern facility will feature 34 beds, dedicated birthing suites, an operating theatre, x-ray and ultrasound services, dental and eye clinics, a pharmacy, as well as antenatal and postnatal care services.

With an estimated cost of around SBD250 million, the centre is expected to significantly strengthen maternal and urban healthcare services, providing improved access to quality healthcare for families and communities.

Football fans in Honiara today took to the streets for the FIFA World Cup Honiara Fan Parade, bringing colour and excitement to the city.

The event is said to promote peace, unity, and sportsmanship, with supporters marching through Honiara waving flags, wearing team colours, and celebrating the spirit of football ahead of the world’s biggest sporting event.

Solomon Islands today joined Commonwealth nations in celebrating the 77th Official Birthday of His Majesty King Charles III at the National Stadium in Honiara.

Governor-General Sir David Tiva Kapu highlighted the importance of unity, leadership, and addressing national issues including climate change, youth unemployment, and illegal drugs, while calling on leaders to work together for the country’s development.

The Honiara City Council law enforcement team, with support from police, demolished betel nut market stalls at the Old Girl Guide area in Honiara as part of ongoing enforcement efforts. HCC says vendors had previously been issued notices advising them not to operate at the site, and monitoring of other areas will continue.
