Solomon Islands National University held an award ceremony on Thursday to recognise the overall high achievers from each faculty for 2025. A total of 14 awards were presented, three from the Faculty of Nursing, Medicine and Health Science; two from Education and Humanities; two from Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; two from Business and Tourism Studies; and five from the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting that will convene its 54th Annual Meeting in Honiara next week monday, this is now the third time Solomon Islands is hosting the Forum; the first was in 1979, the second in 1992, and now, after 33 years, the country is hosting it once again. Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Samson Viulu, says that the new V***r Heat Treatment will boost the trade and export sector in the country through agriculture. He confirmed that the government, through the ministry, is working to explore other Pacific countries to partner with in terms of exporting fresh fruits, and the first fruits in trial will be melon, pawpaw, and guava.
