HEAVY RAIN WARNING NUMBER SIX ISSUED BY THE SOLOMON ISLANDS METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE AT 7:00AM THIS MORING ON WEDNESDAY, 16TH APRIL 2025.

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING IS CURRENT FOR MOST PROVINCES.

SITUATION: A TROUGH LIES OVER THE SOLOMON ISLANDS AND LINKS TO A TC TAM LOCATED SOUTH OF VANUATU, EAST OF NEW CALEDONIA.

ASSOCIATED CLOUDS AND HEAVY RAIN WITH THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO AFFECT MOST PROVINCES.

SUCH LOCALISED HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO POSSIBLE LANDSLIDE AND FLASH FLOODING OVER COMMUNITIES LIVING NEAR HILL SLOPES, CLOSE TO LARGE RIVERS, STREAMS AND LOW-LYING AREAS.

SEA TRAVELERS ARE URGED TO CONSIDER SAFETY ACTIONS AS SUCH HEAVY RAIN CAN REDUCE VISIBILITY.

PEOPLE ARE THEREFORE STRONGLY ADVISED TO TAKE SAFETY MEASURES TO AVOID DANGER AND LOSS OF LIVES.

PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.

Barava FM Service Announcement

Barava FM is currently off air due to a malfunction with the air conditioning system in our transmitter room. To prevent our transmitter from overheating and potentially getting damaged, we have temporarily gone off air as a safety measure.

Our technical team is working to resolve the issue, and we expect to be back on air by or before 10:00 AM. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
