RSF Drones Seen Over Khartoum and El Obeid as Explosions Reported

KHARTOUM, Sudan — Several drones operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were seen flying over Khartoum State and the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan early Wednesday, amid efforts by Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) air defenses to intercept them.

Residents in Omdurman said they saw drones flying at altitudes visible to the naked eye, while loud explosions were heard over the city.

In El Obeid, local sources reported that an RSF drone was shot down, while other drones remained in the area and were engaged by air-defense units.

There was no immediate confirmed information on whether the drones struck their intended targets. No reliable reports of casualties or material damage resulting from the attacks had been received at the time of publication.

The developments came hours after the SAF and allied forces repelled a large-scale attack launched by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) on Qeissan in Blue Nile State.

The nature of the targets reportedly targeted by the drones, as well as the outcome of the interception operations in Khartoum and El Obeid, remains unclear pending official or reliable field reports.

Qeissan Locality Condemns Attack on Town in Blue Nile State

BLUE NILE, Sudan — The Qeissan Locality in Blue Nile State has condemned what it described as a “brutal attack” by rebel forces and Joseph’s forces on the town of Qeissan earlier today, accusing the attackers of terrorizing residents, displacing civilians and damaging agricultural crops.

In a statement, the locality said the attack took place during the agricultural and rainy season, when residents were engaged in farming and securing their livelihoods. It said the assault resulted in the burning of crops and damage to residents’ sources of income.

The locality described the targeting of farmers during the agricultural season as a war crime, and called for the protection of civilians, their property and livelihoods.

The locality also praised the resilience of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied forces operating in the Qeissan area, saying they were continuing to confront the attackers and defend the region.

It said the attack would not deter the people of Qeissan from remaining steadfast, expressing hope that stability would be restored and displaced residents would eventually return to their homes.

Sudan’s Roseries Transmission Line Goes Out of Service, Um-Dabakir Thermal Power Station Shut Down

Almahawer -Khartoum

Sudan’s electricity supply has been disrupted following the outage of the Roseries transmission line and the shutdown of the Um-Dabakir Thermal Power Station, resulting in a widespread power outage across several areas.

The developments have significantly affected the national electricity grid, adding further pressure to an already fragile power sector amid the ongoing conflict and repeated disruptions to critical infrastructure.

The Um-Dabakir power station in Rabak, White Nile State, is Sudan’s largest thermal power plant, with a total installed capacity of approximately 500 megawatts.

Further details on the cause of the transmission-line outage and the expected timeline for restoration of electricity have not yet been confirmed.
