A seven year old child from East London has been killed in a speed boat crash while on holiday in Albania.

Jonada Avida died after she was hit by a speed boat driven by an off duty police officer.

The incident happened at around 2pm on August 2.

Police officer Arjan Tase is alleged to manoeuvred the speedboat dangerously causing him to lose control of the steering.

The driver then hit Jonada on the Potami beach in Himara, Southern Albania, where she and her family were holidaying, it is alleged.

Police confirmed Jonada, from Barking in East London, died instantly at the scene.

Jonada's death has led to protests throughout the country demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and ministers.

Arjan Tase is expected to appear before the Vlora court on Friday (August 5) after he was charged with manslaughter.

Jonada was on holiday with her parents in their home country and was born in London.

The family is said to have been living in the UK for around 2 decades.

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed today (August 5) in East London.

The victim was found in Devalls Close, Newham at around 6am this morning.

Metropolitan Police officers and london Ambulance Service were called to the scene where they found the make with leg injuries.

There is currently no updates on victims condition.

No arrests have been made so far.

A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot by armed police today (August 5) in Greenwich at around 2:30pm.

An air ambulance was in attendance.

Armed Police from the Metropolitan Police rushed to the scene after multiple reports of a man with a gun in the street.

The incident concluded with police having to fire at the man.

He has since been rushed to a major trauma centre.

Currently, there is no update on the man’s condition.

Greenwich West Police tweeted out: "Serious incident on Creek Road between Greenwich Town Centre and Deptford.

Road closed.

Please avoid the area. More details to follow."

A crash has resulted in a lorry spilling a large amount of glass on the M25 motorway causing major delays for motorists.

Currently the M25 has 3 lanes closed between junction 28 and 27 anti-clockwise.

It is unknown how long it will take contractors to clear the debris but the delays are topping 2 hours currently and 6 miles of traffic.

A 5 month old baby was found unresponsive at a property in Preston and rushed to hospital.

Tragically the child died at Royal Preston Hospital.

Lancashire Police we’re called by paramedics to a property on Garsdale Road in Ribberton at around 12:18pm on August 3.

Police are treating the death as unexplained but are investigating the circumstances.

A force spokesperson said: "We were called by the North West Ambulance Service to an address on Garsdale Road, Ribbleton, Preston, at 12.18pm on Wednesday, August 3, following reports that a five-month-old baby boy had been found unresponsive.

The baby was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where sadly he died later in the day.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing."

A flat in Shoreditch caught fire last night (August 4) after a gas explosion.

At it’s worst, 15 fire engines and 100 firefighters attempted to gain control of the blaze on Granby Street in Shoreditch.

Flats on the third and fourth floor of the block where it was have now been put out.

Bethnal Green Road is shut to the public while emergency services investigate the cause of the fire.

One person was rescued from the fire, another four were led to safety.

Station Commander Paul Green, who is at the scene, said: “Firefighters have rescued one person from a second floor flat who has been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Another four people have been led to safety by crews using fire escape hoods.

“Firefighters are continuing to carry out a systematic search of the building.

Part of Bethnal Green Road has been closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”

A man was stabbed in the back after being chased down King Street in Gravesend.

The victim was approached by two men and then produced a weapon which caused him to run away.

They chased him and used this weapon to stab him in the back.

The incident happened on August 1 at around 10:30pm.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

Kent Police said the suspects are described as two Black men, both wearing dark clothing. It is believed they were known to the victim.

A 21 year old man was arrested on August 2 and has been bailed pending further investigations by Kent Police.

Several men have been arrested after a man suffered serious leg injuries following an altercation with them.

The incident happened at around 4:15am on August 4 in Victoria Street.

The victim who is a man in his 30’s currently remains at hospital being treated for his injuries.

A 21 year old and two 22 year old men have been arrested and remain in custody on suspicion of grevillea bodily harm with intent.

Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A second person has been arrested following the stabbing of a 13 year old teenage girl in a Hillsborough Park.

The teenager suffered stab wounds to her abdomen at around 9pm on 26 July.

A 13 year old male was arrested last month on an attempted murder charge and remains on police bail.

Another teenager, 17 years old, was arrested on suspicion of affray on August 3.

He is also on police bail and has curfew conditions.

South Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact police.

A man in his 20’s has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a Richmond cemetery.

London Air Ambulance landed on the graveyard to assist with the treatment of the victim around 4pm today (August 4).

The man was rushed to hospital and his injuries were deemed to be non life threatening.

No arrests have been made so far and the Metropolitan Police are investigating.

Police have appealed to the public for any witnesses.

A spokesperson for the Met told MyLondon : “Police were called at 15:49hrs on Thursday, 4 August, to reports of a man found with a stab injury at Mortlake Cemetery in Richmond.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

A man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab injury.

His condition was assessed as not life-threatening.”

An inquest has heard that a schoolboy aged 13 died after being found by police in shallow water.

Alex Dews died in July after being taken to hospital after he was discovered by police.

Assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden read out brief details of the circumstances as she opened and adjourned an inquest into Alex's death.

She said Alex was 13 and a student from Barnsley.

She said: "I am told by my officer that Alex was a 13-year-old female who identified as a male.

He was born in Barnsley on November 7, 2008.

"Sadly on 14 July, he was found in shallow water by police officers.

He was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Barnsley hospital and then transferred to the children's hospital where he remained until he sadly passed away on 18 July 2022."

Mrs Rawden adjourned the hearing.

A full inquest is expected to open at a later date.

Kem Cetinay was driving his Mercedes-Benz G Wagon in Romford near a restaurant that he owns when he was involved in a collision with a motorcycle this morning (August 4).

A source close to Kem describes him as a “sensible driver” and said “he was not at fault.”

He is being treated by police as a witness and has offered his condolences to the motorcyclists family.

The crash happened on Shepperds Hill in Romford, East London earlier this morning.

Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene at around 11:32am where they found a male cyclist with fatal injuries.

Paramedics attempted to treat him but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:04pm.

A statement released by Kem's representative said: "Kem was this morning (Thursday) involved in a road traffic accident close to his home in the Brentwood area at approximately 11.30am.

"Tragically, a motorcyclist died in the collision.

Kem has been assisting the police and is being treated purely as a witness to the incident.

"Kem will be making no further comment on this matter aside to offer his deepest condolences, prayers and sympathies to the motorcyclist's family and friends."

Twelve fire engines have been dispatched to deal with a fire in a corn field in Swanley.

Footage on social media shows smoke billowing across the M25 on the border of Kent and London.

It is not known if the fire has caused any injuries yet or what the cause is.

One person at the scene tweeted: "A wildfire is next to the line after Swanley going towards Rochester.

Please be careful if you’re travelling nearby."

Police officers showed courage and heroism by dragging a woman to safety from a bridge over the M55.

Officers from Lancashire Police force grabbed the woman from a place of danger and brought her to safety on Thursday afternoon (July 28).

A spokesperson for the force said police reacted quickly after receiving call with a concern for safety.

He said: “We had a call at 1.20 and a very short time later we attended.

The woman has been grabbed by an officer and she is now in the care of emergency services.”

A second arrest has been made in connection with a fire that destroyed three houses in Reading.

The blaze was on Red Cottage Drive broke last July 28.

Thames Valley Police are investigating the fire they were called to at around 11:50pm.

A woman from Reading has now been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

She has been bailed until August 31.

A boy aged 17 arrested on suspicion of arson has been released under investigation.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Stuart Streeter said: "We are continuing our investigation into this incident and have made another arrest in connection with this incident.”

Saphire Williams, 15, was last seen in Masham around 2:30pm yesterday and police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

North Yorkshire Police have launched a search into her whereabouts.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact them immediately.

They tweeted at 4.25am today: "We're searching for Saphire Williams, aged 15, who's gone missing.

She was last seen in Masham at 2.30pm yesterday (Weds).

"We're concerned for her welfare. Saphire lives in Masham but has contacts in South Yorkshire."

Residents have been evacuated from their homes as a car crashed into a gas main outside an Essex pub.

Firefighters were called to Dunmow Road, Takeley at around 5pm yesterday evening (August 3).

It has been reported that two cars were involved in the collision and one of them hit the gas main outside the Four Ashes pub.

A 100 metre cordon was put in place for the publics safety.

Gas workers will now be required to dig up the road in order to repair the gas pipes.

A spokesperson for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews are currently at a gas leak in Dunmow Road, Takeley following a road traffic collision.

"The road is closed between the Takeley traffic lights and the Four Ashes Pub.

Please avoid the area while crews deal with this incident.

Firefighters were called to the scene after a two vehicle road traffic collision where one of the vehicles collided with a gas main.

"A 100 metre cordon has been set up in the area.

Six businesses and two houses within a 50 metre cordon have been evacuated as a safety precaution.

"Our partners in Cadence Gas are in attendance and will need to dig up the road to access the mains.

Crews will remain on scene for safety precautions until the gas supply has been turned off."
