Shania Twain
That Don’t Impress Me Much
Aww Shania, she just rolls off the tongue like butter.
Beautiful, elegant, yet huge s*x appeal!
What any girl, woman or even man wouldn’t give to have just a little bit of what she possesses.
Eileen Regina Twain was born in Canada in 1965, Shania started her career as a rock singer signed to Mercury Nashville with very little success until she met her future husband and record producer Robert Lange.
It was the quality of her second album
‘The Woman In Me’ (1995) produced by the talented Robert John "Mutt" Lange’ that was exquisite to say the least.
With his experience as a rock producer working with the likes of AC/DC and Def Leppard, he used his skills for Shania’s album.
She rose to fame gaining raving reviews and the Canadian singer/songwriter became known as The Queen Of Country.
Her third album ‘Come On Over’ was one of my favourite's and still is today.
Songs such as ‘You’re Still The One’ is still played at every wedding I've ever been to, - it has a sinking melody and lush lyrics combined with her beautiful voice, the way she flips her vocals only the best country singers can do that while ‘Man I Feel Like A Woman’ is still played on every dancefloor and sang at every Karaoke bar.
Shania rocks this song with incredible, powerful vocals any rock star would be proud of.
I went to see Shania way back when, in Hyde park, when she came onto the stage it looked like she stepped out of a fashion magazine, the band played like they were on fire and attended to her every word.
She was pristine from head to toe and there was no need for auto tune, she sounded better than her record, the crowd were ecstatic as Shania was very humble, possessing the audience and owning the stage with her many outfit changes - it was like being on the runway for Vogue.
I do recall this particular album causing a stir back then with the integrity of the genre, is it or isn’t it country?
Well it turned out to be country after all, guiding and making room for alt-country artists such as, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Chris Stapleton alike.
It seems cruel sometimes in the music world where woman are exploited and overshadowed by male artists, Shania stood out and never let anything get in her way, for that I applaud her.
Truly an inspiration and path maker, Shania dominated the country scene with albums such as ‘The Woman In Me’ (1995) before her iconic album ‘Come On Over’ in (1997) which gained her a diamond album certification and to date she has sold over 100 million records worldwide, also filtering into the pop scene respectively.
Shania has made some interesting career moves over the years, she once hosted her own reality television show called ‘Shania Twain’s Still The One’ which premiered in 2004 and she released the single ‘Still The One’ off the back of the show. She is also a woman of great resilience, from divorce to tragedy, overcoming abuse at a young age and seeing things children should never see, she found solace in her writing, discovering she could take the pain out of her head by channeling it into songs.
This has led her to become the woman and icon she is today.
Shania doesn't hide the facts of her personal life, instead she embraces it and shares it with her audience - this is what makes her so special as an artist.
With a career spanning over three decades, gaining five Grammy Awards whilst becoming an icon for many aspiring artists and fans.
Twain is one of the best selling female artists of all time with six studio albums under her belt, three compilations and three remix albums, as well as 45 singles to date.
Six years on, armed with her brand new album ‘Queen Of Me’ shows her sustainability and authenticity as the queen of country pop.
Shania proving to the world that she still has what it takes, being able to reinvent herself time and time again, delivering what her fans want.
‘Queen Of Me’ is a combination of everything her previous albums have and more.
From her signature sound and captivating vocals to inspiring the listener with her meaningful lyrics, Shania doesn't hold back and grabs you buy your heartstrings - a woman who knows exactly what she and her audience needs.
The Queen Of Me tour kicks off in the USA in July 2023 starting in Mansfield.
Shania arrives in the UK on the 14th of September starting in Glasgow (Scotland) continuing through
London (England)
Dublin (Ireland)
then back to England for Manchester, Birmingham and finally Leeds.
I can honestly say it was a privilege to see and hear her live, I would recommend going to experience Shania for yourself.
It’s an eye opener and exquisite experience to say the least.
