Ascendance has been announced as the host of eVTOL Insights' Europe Conference on October 15th, with delegates also invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the company’s facilities the following day.

The partnership will provide attendees with a rare opportunity to experience first-hand one of Europe’s most exciting Advanced Air Mobility innovators, while gaining exclusive insight into the development of Ascendance’s hybrid-electric aircraft and its propulsion system.

Following a full day of fireside chats, panel discussions and keynote presentations about the global Advanced Air Mobility market, delegates will be welcomed to Ascendance’s headquarters on October 16th for a guided factory tour. The visit will offer a rare look inside the company’s engineering, manufacturing and testing facilities, showcasing the technologies helping to shape the future of sustainable aviation.

The exclusive site visit will allow delegates to learn more about the progress being made across both programmes, hear directly from Ascendance’s team and gain valuable insight into the technical and industrial challenges involved in bringing next-generation aircraft to market.

Ahead of the conference, delegates will also have the opportunity to visit Musée Aeroscopia on October 14th. Located adjacent to Aéroport Toulouse-Blagnac, the museum is home to an exceptional collection of historic aircraft, including the iconic Concorde, Airbus A300B, A380 and numerous military and civil aviation exhibits that chart the evolution of flight.

Early bird tickets to attend are on sale until September 4th.

Electra, UrbanV, and Signature Aviation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop infrastructure and operations for a new regional mobility model using ultra-short takeoff and landing aircraft.

The collaboration, announced today (Tuesday), combines Electra’s EL9 hybrid-electric 9‑passenger aircraft — capable of operating from runways as short as 150 feet — with UrbanV’s vertiport development expertise and Signature Aviation’s global network of private aviation facilities. The partnership aims to create a distributed network of access points for point-to-point regional travel, referred to as “Direct Aviation.”

The companies intend to identify priority sites and develop specific agreements for deployment. The model is designed for scalability across different regions and use cases, including potential cargo operations.

The initiative targets routes of roughly 50 to 250 miles, where driving is time-consuming and traditional commercial flights often require indirect routing through major hubs.

Electra’s Direct Aviation Market Outlook estimates more than 35 million such regional passenger trips occur daily in the U.S., with over 6,000 routes seeing more than 1,000 travelers per day. These trips are largely unserved by current air services.

Aeroberm, a Skyportz business, has published a market study on vertiport infrastructure for and the Greater Bay Area as the region advances its low-altitude economy initiatives.

The report was released at LEAP East 2026 in Hong Kong. It coincides with Hong Kong’s “Regulatory Sandbox X” program, which has selected EHang and AutoFlight for initial eVTOL trial projects in partnership with local entities.

Shenzhen, across the border, has already constructed 1,284 low-altitude take-off and landing sites, exceeding its 2026 target of 1,200. The city has invested 12 billion yuan (approximately US$1.7 billion) in low-altitude infrastructure, though most facilities currently support drones and logistics rather than passenger eVTOL operations.

Aeroberm’s study forecasts demand for dedicated passenger vertiports. It projects 500–1,000 modular passenger vertipads by 2030, increasing to 1,500–2,000 by 2035 and 7,000–8,000 by 2045.

The Shenzhen air taxi market is expected to reach US$1.5–2 billion annually by 2035 and US$4–6 billion by 2045, supporting around 54 million passenger trips per year. Nationally, China’s air taxi sector could grow to US$40–60 billion by 2045.

Our next podcast episode is live! This week, we were delighted to be joined by Lavera Alexander, who is Chief Growth Officer and CAMC Director at the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) and talked about California’s pioneering approach to Advanced Air Mobility.

Lavera explains how the California Advanced Air Mobility Corridors Initiative (CAMC) is connecting four public-use airports into the state’s first Federal Aviation Administration-compliant multi-airport flight network, shifting the industry’s focus from proving aircraft performance to validating integrated transportation systems.

She discusses why coordination between airports, utilities, regulators, communities and industry partners is just as important as technological innovation, and why public trust must be treated as critical infrastructure.

The conversation also explores workforce development, community engagement, economic development and the importance of demonstrating tangible public benefits, from emergency response and healthcare access to cargo operations.

Sarla Aviation has confirmed the successful completion of flight-test campaign for Sylla, its half-scale eVTOL technology demonstrator.

Across six months of field testing, Sylla logged more than 500 tests and over 18 hours of flight testing — making the 700 kg-class, 7.5‑metre-wingspan aircraft the heaviest electric aircraft ever to take off in India.

The successful completion of the Sylla 1.0 campaign marks the beginning of Sarla Aviation’s next phase of flight testing.

The company has already begun development of Sylla 2.0, an upgraded technology demonstrator that incorporates the engineering learnings from the current programme.

While Sylla 1.0 focused on validating integrated aircraft systems and controlled hover, Sylla 2.0 will pursue controlled transition between vertical and wing-borne flight—the defining technological milestone required before developing a certifiable passenger eVTOL.
