Madelyn “Emmy” Jeffrey’s body has been recovered in the devastating Texas floods.
She was just 11 years old. A beautiful little girl with a bright smile and her whole life ahead of her. Emmy had been staying at her grandparents’ cabin at Casa Bonita when the floodwaters came. Her grandparents, Penny and Emlyn Jeffrey, were found earlier this week. Now, Emmy is finally home too.
Her family says it brings some small sense of peace to know she’s been found, while holding space for the many other families still waiting for answers. The list of people still missing is haunting. The grief is heavy. And none of this makes sense.
Emmy was deeply loved, the first grandchild, the shining light of her family, and a role model to the younger cousins who looked up to her.
