We’re very sad to share the news of the passing of illustrator Cecil Vieweg, who worked with Artist Partners after arriving in London in the late 60s. Cecil joined our Soho studio at a time when it was a creative hub for some of the UK’s leading illustrators, working alongside Brian Sanders, Michael Leonard, Roger Coleman and others.

Cecil quickly became one of the most sought-after artists of the 1970s and 80s, creating editorial work, book covers, advertising campaigns and a wonderful array of film posters. His talent and versatility made him a major part of the Artist Partners story during that era.

Christine remembers him as “a titan in the field of illustration… producing countless pieces of the highest calibre.” David Roach also paid tribute to his “astonishing ability to create extraordinary images with a humble pencil.”

Cecil leaves behind an incredible legacy, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

We’re excited to share that Clare Mackie has just two more weekend classes left this year, and there are still a few spaces available! If you can only make a single day, that’s absolutely fine.

22nd & 23rd November, 10:30–3pm
Create and design your own cushion cover using appliqué, buttons, beads, ribbons and more — all materials included.

29th & 30th November, 10:30–3pm
Get festive and paint from a selection of wooden Christmas ornaments, with all materials and paints provided.

All levels are welcome. Clare’s workshops are all about enjoyment, creativity and learning new skills in a relaxed, non-judgemental space.

Please bring your own lunch; teas and coffees will be available.
