Music has been SO important for all of us during the past year, so this episode is dedicated to celebrating the art form and its benefits to us throughout history 🎶

We hear from US country star Cam as she discusses the psychological and neural power of music (from her stunning TedX talk), and I caught up with UK country duo Ward Thomas to hear how lockdown has changed their approach to music.

"Music is a tool that our species developed to help us heal ourselves and sooth our souls. It carries the burden of our heartbreak, it allows us to process grief, it reminds us that good things are coming and it lets us know that we are not struggling alone" – Cam (watch the whole TedX talk here: bit.ly/3xTuOrw)

We're all required to wear face coverings to help slow down the spread of Coronavirus, but is your mask REALLY up to the job?

In this week’s episode of The City Cowgirl Show, I caught up with dental care professional and seamstress Wendy Duncan who tells us why the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends face coverings to be a MINIMUM OF THREE layers, and why your mask could actually be attracting the very microorganisms you’re trying to avoid.

After the dental industry profession was shut down very early on in the pandemic, Wendy has been busy as a Test and Trace worker for NHS Professionals, while also producing made-to-order designs modelled on the surgical masks she’s worn over a 25 year career in the dental industry.

Order yours in the comments below, and help to raise money for the NHS and British military! 👇

£5 for individual masks (child - adult)
£12.99 for a pack of three (postage and packaging included)

Or head to Instagram () and order there, where you can choose from a rang of designs and patterns.

VERY excited for this. Theresa Haggard, the wife of the late Merle Haggard is to co-write and co-produce a movie on his life. 🤠 More details to come as we get them!

Dear fans and friends,

I am happy to announce that I have been in negotiations with Amazon studios studios and Hollywood director Robin Bissel to make the Merle Haggard movie. I promised my late husband, Merle Haggard that I would get this done and I’m giving it my best shot. I will be writing and producing with Robin Bissel this great story. Merle had a great life. And as we used to joke about he had many lives and this will be the first of this magnitude to show how great of an artist and man he truly was. I hope to bring him the glory he so deserves. Maybe you’ve already heard the news but now you’re hearing from me.

God bless each and every one of you in these trying times.

Sincerely with love, Theresa Haggard

Meet The Chicks. The Dixie Chicks have officially dropped Dixie from their name. Believed to be in acknowledgment of criticism over its use of “Dixie,” a nostalgic nickname for the Civil War-era South.

Country trio The Dixie Chicks are now The Chicks. The group made the change on Thursday by releasing a new video as The Chicks and adjusting their social media presence.

Love singing along to live music?

Well, you're in luck – the SingSong Club is the 21st century version of the traditional pub sing-song, a place to celebrate some of the greatest songs ever written – and get involved yourself!

🤠 Before lockdown we sang together in bars. Now, Ravi Panesar and his band of musicians have taken the music online – and you're all invited to join the action.

The next SingSong tune is Dolly Parton's Jolene... so get involved! Film yourself singing along to the guide track (https://youtu.be/VF7n3C28B00) and email your video to [email protected] to join in the fun.

You don't have to be a professional singer – this is a time to let your hair down and celebrate the power of music. 👌

Enjoy!

Stay home, save lives... and sanitise!

We're all in the same boat here, so I caught up with rising couuntry artists Two Ways Home, Jess And The Bandits, Emily Faye, Vic Allen, Gary Quinn, Máiréad and Ross Macintyre to see what they're up to in self-isolation.

Loving this new track from The Honkabillies. The band aren’t letting social distancing stop them make new music 🎶

Check out ‘Better Times’, a song inspired by this bizarre time, below!👇🏻👇🏻
