With a full heart, my latest retreat is wrapped up, and I'm turning my focus back to finally completing some documentary projects.

I'm still offering Kambo ceremonies - I'm currently in the south of Spain, but let me know if you'd be interested in hosting one in the UK, Netherlands or Germany where I'll be heading over the next couple of months.

I'm over here more often now: https://www.instagram.com/rebecca_moteofdust/

*Film news* Fittingly as it’s dying matters awareness week, filming begins this week for a new documentary around the role of the end of life doula, a tv series project that I was asked to be involved in co-directing alongside the wonderful for Berlin Producers Media GmbH ZDF which highlights how the movement is growing internationally.

Thanks to End of Life Doula UK and the community who we’ll be seeing soon for the annual gathering.

I’m proud that our Film London short doc Holding Space (southern exposure film fund), having screened internationally, is now shared with everyone moving through the LWDW Training and several years on, is still getting engagement on the youtube channel. Big thanks as always to for ongoing support and advice across projects.

This year, the Dying Matters theme is 'the way we talk about dying matters' and after researching these conversations, they’ve created this short quiz: https://bit.ly/DMW24quiz See what you think.

I deeply wish that everyone could experience the quantity and quality of life that feels fair, with compassionate support around them, in a safe, comfortable environment, alleviating pain and fear to allow for reflection on joyous memories and small, peaceful moments at the end of life.

Today has a particularly sad tinge to it. Another sweet human has unexpectedly left this world, and I’m reflecting on the impact we have in each other’s lives. It would have been Karen’s birthday today, the same age as me.

Now adapting to an unknown future without their Mom is 22 year old Chemaiyah and her three brothers, aged 15, 14 and 7, for whom she will now be caring, juggling that with her studies - she’s on track to graduate in May.

I had the privilege of documenting a transient and vulnerable moment of their family life, over a decade ago now. Perhaps some of you have watched Something You Can Call Home. We’ve kept in touch over the years and met up any time I’ve made it back to North Carolina.

Ever-striving for personal growth and a safer environment for her beloved kids, Karen’s warmth of spirit, tenacity and open expression of love and gratitude, lives on in them. Her last messages to me revealed excitement and peace in making a courageous move to essentially start fresh and dream big, closing with ‘to be continued.’ This story now will be told in other ways, through the children in whatever way they decide, as they navigate the next days and years.

If you feel moved to, they would hugely appreciate any contribution or kind words: https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-karen-eldridge

Have you noticed that the gathering before or after a funeral known as a ‘wake’ (originally referring to watching over or visitation), is the same word as what seems to happen when someone dies, especially without warning - a wake up call as to how consciously we’re moving through this world, how we’re loving those around us, how we’re fulfilling our heart’s purpose...
