My review of the occasionally profound, (and often bizarre), Parsifal by Richard Wagner at the Royal Ballet and Opera.

It’s definitely not the opera for a first time goer, but if one insists, it might be better to just close one’s eyes and let the more divine passages of Wagner’s score embrace you.

It's AMAZING what you can see in the sea off the Romney Marsh coast!!!..................................................................................

Conversely, it's amazing what you can see in the Red Sea coast of Sharm El-Sheikh!

This is a pastiche of my wife's awesome work with her underwater camera whilst snorkeling in the shallows which by far beat anything I managed to capture in the depths of the popular deeper dive sites!

At a time when the RNLI are facing severe criticisms......a timely reminder of the risks they take.

On November 15th, 1928, The Rye Harbour lifeboat, the 'Mary Stanford', launched into a ferocious force 10 south-westerly gale at dawn.

The 17-man crew rowed an open, oar-powered wooden surf boat with no engine and no radio to help the Latvian steamer 'Alice' of Riga. Unbeknownst to the crew, the ship in distress had already been rescued by another vessel. Recall signals and rockets were fired from the shore, but the intense storm and roar of the waves prevented the crew from seeing or hearing them.

The 'Mary Stanford capsized off the coast near Camber and Broomhill Sands, drowning all 17 local men aboard. Fifteen bodies washed ashore initially, and another was recovered months later, but the youngest crewman—17-year-old John Head—was never found.The disaster devastated the small, close-knit community of Rye Harbour, where hardly a family was left untouched.

Back to Pett Level..........on LAND! Where you're least likely to get cut off by the tide!!

This is a wonderful walk, by the way, with a fabulous view of the High Weald sandstone cliffs near Cliff End that marks the meeting point between the flat marshlands of Pett Level and the dramatic rising coastline toward Fairlight and Hastings.

Fossil Hunting: At low tide, the foreshore near Cliff End exposes dinosaur footprints (such as iguanodon), reptile bones, and ancient plant outlines.

Sunken Forest: A 6,500-year-old petrified submerged forest with black tree stumps and fallen logs emerges during low tides.

Historical Wreck: The beach is famously the resting place of the 17th-century warship HMS Anne, scuttled in 1690. Safety Warning: The sandstone cliffs experience active erosion (averaging over 1 meter per year) and can be unstable, so visitors must check tide times and keep a safe distance from the cliff base.
ESPECIALLY THE TIDES....if you don't want to get cut off by it like I did!!😂
