Film lovers were treated to a sneak preview of the forthcoming film The Sweet East, starring Jacob Elordi and breakout talent Talia Ryder, at a Hackney cinema last week. The film is set for full theatrical release in the UK on 29 March.

On Tuesday night at the Rio Cinema, cinephiles were invited to the screening and filmmakers’ Q&A of acclaimed cinematographer Sean Price Williams’ directorial debut.

A photography exhibition titled 'Why are things this way?' features everyday scenes shot by six Hackney locals. 📷

Organised by , residents took photographs of their day-to-day lives to highlight how they have been affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

The exhibition can be found at the LSE Atrium on Houghton Street, and is open until Friday 12 April 2024.
