➡️ Low-income individuals are accessing therapy more than you’d think, thanks to affordable teletherapy options.

➡️ In-person therapy still reigns supreme, with 43.2% preferring face-to-face sessions for deeper connections.

➡️ AI-driven therapy is gaining traction, even among older adults — proving age isn’t a barrier to tech in mental health.

One of Barack Obama’s fave films of 2023 was Leave the World Behind. Now, that’s no surprise, as Barack and Michelle were credited as executive producers for this intriguing masterpiece.

Wow, was that movie polarizing! It stirred up a whirlwind of opinions. Some have hailed it as a work of genius, while others have been less enthused. Personally, I found it captivating. I appreciate the subtlety and the space it provides for you to delve deeper into the layers beneath the surface storyline. But, of course, art is subjective, and I know many others who didn't quite connect with the plot.

So, it got me thinking about another divisive topic of 2023 — the future of content marketing in the age of AI tools like ChatGPT.

Just like the discordant opinions on the movie, there are divided views on AI in content creation. Some fervent supporters see it as a game-changer that enhances efficiency and productivity. Others, however, express concerns that AI might lead to the demise of authentic, human-generated content or even the downfall of humanity as a whole! Human writers are also concerned about their jobs and future. But I don’t think we need worry yet, though.

As for me, I believe that AI has a place in digital marketing. It can be an incredibly useful tool when wielded by skilled hands and employed under suitable circumstances. AI tools can assist in research and analysis, ideation, and generating rough content quickly.

However, here's the important caveat — AI should augment, not replace, human creativity and expertise. Human writers bring not just words but feelings, emotions, and insights to the table. They can infuse empathy, creativity, and a deep understanding of the audience into their writing. They can craft stories that resonate personally and spark meaningful conversations.

AI tools are undoubtedly valuable sometimes, but they lack the genuine human touch that makes content truly engaging and relatable.

There are several mistakes that I repeatedly see in the health industry. And of course, it's best to avoid all of them! But if I had to choose the number one thing to avoid, it would be to avoid jargon.

When writing, think about your audience and ensure your copy is appropriate for the context. In other words, tailor your words and tone to the specific audience!

Think about how you'd chat with a friend. If that friend's a clinician, then medical jargon is entirely fitting. Conversely, if you're chatting to a layperson, you need to self-edit. Think about how you can be approachable and conversational as you get your message across.

Although it may appear otherwise, being able to explain things in simple terms underpins your expertise.

Remember the Albert Einstein quote, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough?"

It applies here.

A great tip is to read your copy aloud. Be honest. How does it sound? Stiff and stuffy or friendly and knowledgeable? If it's the former, switch it up until it sounds relaxed and friendly.

When your audience enjoys reading your content, they'll come back for more!

Sometimes my clients bring me in to ‘zhuzh’ up some content they’ve written themselves, or someone else has helped them with.

The top thing I see from non-professional writers is a love of overly wordy writing.

Why use one word when a bunch of them is more impressive, right?

Nope!

Instead, the opposite happens. Using a ton of words where a couple would suffice obscures your message, makes it far trickier to read, and can lead to people clicking away.

As in:
❌ “are in possession of”
✅ “have”
❌ “afford an opportunity”
✅ “allow”
❌ “bring to a conclusion”
✅ “conclude”

I could go on, but you get the idea! Clear, concise writing is the order of the day. It’ll keep your audience interested and informed.
