welcome to one of my favorite cities in germany that you absolutely must visit if you are in berlin 💌

welcome to ✨
📍potsdam, germany

this historical city is only 45 minutes away from berlin making it the perfect day trip 🧚🏼‍♀️

best of all, potsdam is surrounded by water and has several stunning gardens and palaces that you can explore 🏰

✨ how to get here ✨

🚂 you can easily get here with public transportation and you can choose between the RE1 (25 minutes) or S7 train (35 minutes)

🗽 to get to the city center you can simply walk 15-20 minutes from the train station or take the 695 bus or 91 tram

✨ things to do in potsdam ✨

there is honestly SO much to see so I recommend choosing a few if you only have a day - or taking a weekend trip to see it all 🧚🏼‍♀️

did you know that slovakia looks like this?! 😮‍💨

on a recent trip to the tatras mountains in poland we took a day trip into the high tatras of slovakia and the views completely blew us away 📸

there are SO many stunning hikes in the high tatras and I can’t wait to go back and explore some more of the region 🥹

that being said, if you only have time for one hike I recommend you make it this one! 🌿

remember to leave no trace and wear proper hiking equipment! 💭

location ✨
📍zelené pleso, high tatras
⛰️ distance: ~ 17km
🥾 difficulty: moderate with challenging parts
🌸 elevation gain: ~300 meters
🌿 elevation loss: ~1,200 meters

below is my recommended route for the best views and more interesting trail - for confident hikers not afraid of heights or exposed routes (easier route below) 🧚🏼‍♀️

✨ route ✨
🚠 take the gondola from tatranska lomnica to skalnaté pleso (€29 per adult)

🌸 from skalnaté pleso walk to vel’ká svišťovka for insane views

⛰️ continue along the trail down to zelené pleso - this part can be tricky so be careful on the ascent as it’s very exposed with loose rocks and a chain section

🍜 take a long break at zelené pleso and enjoy the food at the hut (cash only)

🌲 continue along the forest route toward biela voda parking lot

(for an easier and non exposes route you can hike to the lake from this parking lot both ways)

🚌 from the parking lot take either a bus or cab back to tatranská lomnica (or walk)

PART 13: 20 places to see in england that aren’t london 💫

save for future planning 😇

the last coastal spot of this series is all about one of most charming coastal towns in england 🌾

welcome to ✨
📍whitby

located on the yorkshire coast, whitby is the perfect addition to a weekend trip to york 📸

✨ how to get here ✨

🚗 while you can visit by car and there are lots of parking spots (I recommend “whitby parking”), I have also added public transportation directions as it’s super easy to visit as a day trip from York! 💭

🚂 take the train from York to Scarsborough (50 minutes)

🚌 from the train station hop on the X93 or X94 coaster towards whitby, getting off at whitby bus station (around 1 hour)

✨ pro tip ✨

the town can get quite busy in the summer and holidays so if arriving by car I recommend getting here early 😌

✨ things to do in whitby ✨

whitby is one of the larger towns on the coast so there are lots of things to see and I highly recommend that you plan for a few hours to just get lost exploring the streets here 🧚🏼‍♀️

however here are a couple extra suggestions that you shouldn’t miss while here! 🌿

📍199 steps
📍whitby abbey
📍st. mary’s church
📍whitby beach
📍grape lane
📍whitby harbour
📍whitby pier

✨ how long to spend here ✨

you can easily spend a full day here exploring the town and going for a swim 🍃

alternatively you can combine a day here with a visit to Robin Hood’s Bay (on the bus route) - if you choose this option plan for around 4 hours in whitby ☀️

(or even turn it into a full weekend trip and explore other spots along the coast and yorkshire in general - my picks are robin hood’s bay and staithes) 📸

If you’re planning a scandi summer then you should definitely consider a relaxing break at Maryhill Estate 🌿

I visited with where I found a room that was up to 40% off and included full access to all of the incredible pools here 🏖️

comment “ESTATE” for the link and a discount code for extra savings 💌

Maryhill Estate is located in Glumslöv in southern Sweden and is only 1 hour away from Copenhagen by car, making it the ideal countryside weekend escape! 🌸

ps. you can also visit by public transport by taking the train from Copenhagen to Landskrona, but from there I would recommend taking a cab or uber to the estate 🚕

I stayed in the sugar club which is SO stunning and with a stay here you also get access to 4 different pools, 3 of them heated year round, and a stunning sauna overlooking the water 🌊

my two favorite pools were the infinity pool by the hill house for it’s insane views over the water and the pool club where you could order food and drinks straight to your lounge bed 🥂

beyond the pools and sauna there is also a huge garden with lots of activities available, indoor ping pong tables, darts, and other fun games, a gym, and you can even rent padel courts! 🏓

the whole estate is decorated beautifully and I especially loved the mix and match design of the restraurant which complemented the delicious food 🍝

this is the ultimate stay for anyone looking to fully relax in the countryside for a few days and is perfect for couples, friends, and families alike ✨

to book this same stay all you need to do is sign up to become a member of (it’s free!) where you can also find rates up to 40% off for a limited time ⏳

use the code BACKYARD25 for £25 off your booking (minimum spend of £175) 💸

ps. this extra discount expires on the 29/07/2026 at 23:59

comment “ESTATE” and I’ll send you the direct booking link and discount code 🥰

T&Cs: £25 off a minimum spend of £175. Expires 29/07/26 at 23:59
