Doing an Atmos mix for and realised that the song The Way We Were, as simple as it is, is a perfect example of how front and rear perspectives can be used to create a really cool listening experience. Turning your head towards the fast m back of the room focuses on different elements in the mix which is pretty wild! 👌🎛

Revisiting old recordings is almost always a joy to me. They most often sound better than I remember and in this case I get to remix these tracks by The Distance Between Us and fix a couple things that have bugged me over the years. I'm doing a stereo mix that replicates the original mix with aforementioned improvements and then comes the really fun part - the Atmos mix! 🔥

As part of the dichotomies of life, I loathe Waves' business model of not allowing to install their plugins to more than one computer. At the same time there are 7 plugins that I just find too useful to replace (and I've really tried) so I just completed buying a second setup of these 7 plugins. 🤯 And no, I'm not switching to a subscription model or even the hideous Update Plan. 🤮

- Rbass, RS124, HReverb, MV2, J37 all do something unique (to my ears)
- L1 and C6 are just built into my brain at this point, I'm sticking to them

Am I crazy? Have I missed something, which Waves plugins are you still using or have you managed to stop using them?

Finally - the mini version of the all-encompassing amp wall is "complete"! Every studio that records and reamps electric...

Finally - the mini version of the all-encompassing amp wall is "complete"! Every studio that records and reamps electric guitars should have an assortment of amplifiers that covers all bases.

My newest addition, the Orange Terror Stamp is pretty amazing for what it delivers in its miniscule format. The same actually goes for all of these, put these little buggers in a good speaker and you're golden. I've got 2 Celestion Greenbacks as well as a V30, Mojotone and Jensen speakers.
