After the Summer break, Gothenburg Media Hub’s regular AWs are back in full swing to kick-start the Autumn season 🍁

Are you a journalist or professional within media or communications living in Gothenburg? Employed, freelancer, student, or job-searcher, Swedish or English-speaking – all are welcome to our events and wider community. We believe community is key – and it feels all the more important when so many of us face a tough job market.

Perugia International Journalism Festival 2025 was a blast! An opportunity to follow stimulating panels and meet really great people

It was also a good excuse to meet our friends from our sister organisation from the other side of Europe plus catch up with the team from Are We Europe that brought us together in the first place, almost 2 years ago!

We spoke about future plans and challenges faced as newly started associations - it was both refreshing and inspiring

Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures all together and decided against photoshopping Vittoria. We instead invited each other to visit our cities, eat pizza and catch up.

A new space for Gothenburg’s media community

(pop-up Gothenburg Media House at Litteraturhus)

If you are a or any other professional, join us at this space for exchanging ideas, writing and community. It's free and open for EVERYONE who wants to join an INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY of like-minded creatives and professionals, starting this Spring in the heart of Gothenburg!

We know how hard it is to find a community and a place to work as a freelancer. That is why our vision of a GOTHENBURG MEDIA HOUSE is so important to us. After months of hard work, we can finally announce that Göteborgs Litteraturhus will become the media community’s home for this Spring and Summer. This is a pilot phase, during which we will test and finetune the project.

Once a week, you will be able to sit, talk and write together at Litteraturhus, with other journalists and media professionals. All this is possible due to the engagement of Göteborgs Litteraturhus and , with whom we share the vision of a common space that fosters networking, creativity, collaboration, and support among freelancers.

This is the first step of a very ambitious project, and we hope you'll join us on the journey. Bring your lunch box and come meet other professionals, on selected days, starting April 22.

A Nordic network for investigative journalists in the making.

After many months of hard work, meetings and countless emails our dedicated team of passionate volunteers have set the basis of .

This has been a project initiated in early 2024 and thanks to the support of , , sujo_undersokendejournalistikk and Tutki - we spread a survey and set out to test building a cross-border network together by

These are still early days but we hope in the coming weeks and months to gain more feedback on what is needed from a Nordic-level network and how it can benefit journalists and newsrooms in digging deeper together.

2024, what a year for the hub!

We started off in Gothenburg with a weekend meeting defining our priorities, then went to Paris 🇫🇷 and met with our friends from and all the other Hubs started with The Circle project.
🌠
Then came back to Gothenburg, founded a non-profit and started organising events!
🌠
Held a panel on 'reporting on Africa´in June, a panel on investigative journalism at Frihamnsdagarna in august, spoke at Creative Mornings and hosted several After-work meetups and members meetings.

In parallel we also ran a survey and hosted many meetings towards building a Nordic network of investigative journalists. More news on this coming news!

This would not have been possible if it was not for all the people within the team who dedicate time and energy in organising all this.

A special THANKS goes also to Are We Europe team who brought us together, guided us from day 1 and are still an older sibling to which we can turn to for advice and to work together with.

Förra veckan anordnade Publicistklubben Västra och Gothenburg Media Hub en panel om utländska korrespondenters baserat i Göteborgs rapportering om Sverige.

Det blev en intressant diskussion med många frågor från publiken om hur Sverige uppfattas från utlandet; vad redaktörer är intresserade av och de största skillnaderna mellan medielandskapet i Sverige och i hemlandet

Last week Gothenburg Media Hub and Publicistklubben Västra organised a panel on foreign correspondents reporting on Sweden.

The panel discussed on how Sweden is perceived from abroad; what editors are interested in and biggest differences between the media landscape in Sweden and in their home coutries.

Imorgon (10 dec) håller Publicistklubben och ett panelsamtal där vi får chansen att ställa frågor och lära oss mer om deras arbete. Vad är deras hemmaredaktioner i Amsterdam, Berlin, London och Rom intresserade av? Hur ser bilden av Sverige och Norden ut?
🇳🇱 Skandinavienkorrespondent för den nederländska tidningen Trouw och frilansjournalist.
🇮🇹🇬🇧 Nordenskorrespondent för ANSA, den italienska nyhetsbyrån, samt frilansare för The Times och BBC News.
🇩🇪 Frilansande Skandinavienkorrespondent för flera tysktalande media bland annat tidningar, tidskrifter och poddar.
Under kvällen delar även Publicistklubben ut PK Västras priser för 2024. Dessutom kommer vi att uppmärksamma att tidningsdöden i Västsverige tyvärr fortsatt denna höst.
