Pierre was at The Citadel and played at The Citadel Big Game: 1815 - 2015 in Givet, France.
Thursday
Arrived at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on thursday evening. A friend from Northern Alliance picked me up at the airport and we drove down my friends place in Arnhem.
Friday
After a nice sleep on my friends couch another friend from Northern Alliance picked us up and we started our journey down to Givet, France.
We passed through Belgien, Nederländerna and almost through Luxemburg on the way down to Givet, France. It was really cool because this was the first time I had been in Belgium in my life very beautiful country.
We went through the Ardennen famous from the Ardenneroffensiven in the World War II.
See the picture of the tank in the picture.
After a quick stop at a bank in Givet we headed up the mountain to the Citadel. We registred our tickets and got our armbands for the event, also got one box of Tommahawk Classic.
We went out on the field before the game started to see the sights a little shame that my phone died so I couldn't take pictures of the field and sights before the game.
Technically there wasn't any game on friday but we rallied some persons and started a game red vs yellow players.
After the friday game we headed back to the hotel for check-in at ibis budget Givet. We went out to eat and found a nice little restaurant that was named Restaurant Maison Baudoin. Really nice dinner for 76,80 euros for 3 persons. 3 dishes with drinks.
Check the picture for the food.
Saturday (First game day)
First game was that "Prince of Orange" (Dutch people and one Swedish guy ;) ) hade captured Napoleon in the jail of the village from both "Wellington" (English) and Napoleon "France" (french speaking people).
Prince of Orange (us) managed to capture and hold Napoleon in the prison. We won that game.
Second we were moving from the village to the cowboy town. We were to defend the cowboy town from the french and english guys.
Shame that they captured the flag just like th last second of the game.
Before the night game we went to McDonalds to get some food.
It's a shame that someone brought flashbangs to a paintball and I would say cheated a little bit there becuase of that.
Night games weren't really my thing.
Sunday
There were open games red vs Yellow vs blue.
We went out to the main after we got pushed back all the way to our respawn point and the yellow managed to close our respawn point with a smoke gr***de.
After we had grabbed some food we were just about to go back to the game.
When we came out to on the field, they called game over because that someone through in 3 teargas gr***des in the hotel in the middle of the field.
Game got ended for like 45 minutes to let the tear gas clear out.
The game started again but after a while all the marshalls left and I stopped playing and left the field.
What are my thoughts about the games?
Good things
+ The Marshalls had nametags on them that said there names and which languages they spoke. That went that if they didn't speak English you had to call on a another marshalls or ask them to.
+ Really nice place to play at.
+ That if you throw a smoke gr***de in to room full of enemy players all of them was dead and had to go back to the respawn.
+ and - a bit poorly organised sometimes.
Bad things
- The security fence around the village I would say was a little to short because it was like industry border fence like 1,9m height a paintball could easily hit someone on the other side of the fence.
- Someone managed to bring in both flashbangs and tear gr***des into the field. I know it's not the fields problem to check everyones equipment but they are there to keep it safe for the players on the field.
Overall rating of the game 1 to 10
9 points but they loose the 10 because of the safety issue at the field with the safety fence.
Otherwise really good orginasation at the games.
