I was beaten as a child… My childhood. And my identity…
I started working at 9 years old.
And for most of my life, I felt like two things were stolen from me.
My childhood. And my identity.
My dad was not the best dad in the world for many things… but he was proud of me if we did what he said.
I’ve forgiven him. Completely. He did everything he could with what he knew.
…He sent me to an industrial school. I was the only girl in the entire building. He told the school I already knew how to weld, work, and know how to make money (because he had a small factory), and they accepted me at twelve. When I was supposed to go to college.
People would stare. “Is that a girl we see there?” they would ask…
Inside, I didn’t want that life. But I was so afraid of what my dad would say that I said yes. I always said yes.
I never played with dolls as a little girl. I had to be the attraction, his proudest.
So as an adult, I bought dolls. 🙂 Not because I wanted them, I think. But because somewhere inside me, that little girl was still searching for the childhood she never had.
What I didn’t understand then, was that saying yes out of fear had become my identity.
I became a people pleaser without even knowing it.
No boundaries. No voice. No sense of who I really was.
I just worked. Hard. Because that’s all I knew how to do.
When I look at Michael Jackson’s story, I feel him.
A child who gave everything before he could choose. Who performed for the world before he could discover himself. Who kept believing, even when everything around him tried to break him…
I see myself in that.
For years I outworked the pain. I worked hard.
I built businesses. I helped clients. I showed up every single day.
But I was still that little girl, afraid to say no. Afraid to take up space.
The day everything changed wasn’t when I worked harder.
It was when I forgave my dad.
And when I finally said, out loud, for the first time:
I own my own life!
Not my dad. Not my fear. Not my past. Me
…I share this because I know you might be carrying something heavy too.
Maybe your identity was shaped by someone else’s dreams.
Maybe you’ve been saying yes when everything inside you says no.
Maybe you’ve been working hard, but for the wrong reasons…
You are allowed to stop.
You are allowed to choose.
You are allowed to build something that is entirely, unapologetically yours.
That’s why I do what I do.
I don’t just help coaches and consultants build client acquisition systems.
I help them build businesses that finally reflect who they truly are.
Because when your work comes from your real identity, not fear, not approval, not survival, everything changes.
The clients come.
The money flows.
And for the first time, work doesn’t feel like work.
It feels like purpose. ✨
If this touched you, please share it. Someone needs it today.
