🦾 We’ve been to our first and are now on our way home.

As speakers and spoke about ”Making Digital Twins Playable - from UEFN to Unreal Engine” and shared insights from their project called ”Playable Place”. 🌎🎮

We will share more from the talk in the next upcoming days and eventually the talk will be available in YouTube. 🎥

It was so much fun to meet so many “epic people” ☺️ working with both and as their immersive and interactive tool of choice.

Time to reflect on all of the new ideas and thoughts we’ve gotten after talking to so many and listening to interesting talks. Also need to recharge after an intense week. 🔋 But next week we are back and ready to talk to anyone interested in either UEFN, UE or Generative AI. 🚀

What happens when a real place - built from photogrammetry, drone data, and geospatial mapping - becomes playable inside one of the world’s largest social gaming platforms?

In this innovation project, we at TOMLIN STUDIO, together with Linköpings universitet and Norrköpings kommun, explored how a digital twin of the city of Norrköping could be brought into Fortnite using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).

The result:
🗺️ A playable prototype based on a real urban environment
🎯 A first step for game jams, education, and place-based storytelling
🚀 A method to future-proof and activate digital twins in an interactive way

🎮 We went to DreamHack () for the first time and as Swedish and developers and creatives, we were so happy to see being played everywhere at the festival! 🙌

When the kids screamed ”Savage” at and tried to get a selfie with him, it not only made me even more certain that making games and experiences inside of the Fortnite universe is the way to go, but it also touched me.😍 These kids really LOVE the platform and players and content creators like and are their big idols.

It was also fun to see being there with and we now have three beautiful game controllers to bring back home with us. 🧱🫶

Besides that we got to meet two fellow UEFN-people and I got this friend bracelet. 😍 Thank you we will come back next year! This time without bags. 😅😎

🎮If you missed out on Fortnite's big event "The Prelude" last week, here's a video! 🎤

Last week Fortnite had an amazing success with the live event directly from NYC 🌆 called "The Prelude", introducing the Chapter 2 Remix in which artists like Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, Eminem and a tribute to Juice Wlrd coming up. Dressed in a new Marshmello skin we attended the concert and here's a some footage from that for you to check out.

Whether you were there in person or in-game, it was a fantastic event. We can't wait to see what happens at the end of this year, remember the Big Bang event with Eminem? We expect to blown away again. Music + gaming = 😍

🎮 Get ready for Fortnite’s “Remix: The Prelude” live event tonight! 🎉 This event marks the exciting start of Chapter 5 Season 5, and it promises music, surprises, and maybe a performance by either Marshmello or Snoop Dogg! 🎶

🎮 Epic Games aimes to create an open metaverse 🌐

At the Unreal Fest in Seattle last week, Epic Games laid out exciting plans for Unreal Engine 6 (soon to be released is 5.5), which promises to harmonize high-end game development with the more user-friendly Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) we use ourselves forr Fortnite games and experiences.

🎯 The goal? A seamless, interoperable metaverse ecosystem and first up is the Disney universe that both will have its own gaming universe and be connected to Fortnite. Meaning you will be able to use both Disney skins and other skins and walk between the two universes. You won't be able to use many of the Disney characters in shooting games though which even more shows that Epic is making the Fortnite universe into a broader experience.

The Disney universe and its bridge with Fortnite is just the beginning and something we all will be able to create when Unreal Engine 6 comes in a few years. ⏳

This epic vision includes digital assets moving fluidly across platforms like Roblox and Minecraft, aiming for a cohesive gaming universe. The road might be rocky, with legal scuffles and metaverse skepticism, but Epic's commitment is full steam ahead! 🚀

If it will be possible to open up all of these different "verses" and walk between them even though they are owned by different companies would definately benifit players. We'll have to see if the companies behind like for instance Roblox and Mojang Studios agree with Epic Games or not. For us as UEFN and Verse developers its exciting times and we hope FUN and COMMUNITY will lead the way (even though money probably has got a lot to do with it too). 😄

🏃‍♀️ Rushing through life, we often forget to take a moment to just have FUN – and that includes us too, the ones creating fun experiences and games. 🙄

The world can be challenging and there’s a lot happening around us that is troubling to say the least. But sometimes, all we need is an to recharge and reconnect with the joy of playing and the importance of having fun in life.

📱 Big News this week in the Epic and Fortnite Universe! 🎮

One of the biggest headlines this week is that Fortnite has finally launched its Epic Games Store on iOS—but only in the EU! 🛒 Unlike other platforms, this version bypasses Apple's App Store, allowing users to download directly from the mobile Epic Games Store. Yes, it requires more space than something like Roblox, but with Fortnite's stunning visuals, it’s well worth it. 🔍In other news, even if you don’t have a Fortnite account, you can now explore the Fortnite Item Store online via browser. While you need to log in to purchase, you can still browse the latest skins, emotes, and more! The store refreshes daily, so some players feel the need to be quick otherwise they might miss out on those rare items. Compared to for instance Roblox though you can't buy anything in Fortnite that gives you advantages (like pay to win items or abilities). It's pure cosmetics and fun.
