Last year we had the pleasure to have to welcome
Peilian Li from Switzerland 🇨🇭
In Ockelbo 🇸🇪

Peilian worked on her Ambiental poems project during her stay at Optic Art Residency in Ockelbo, Sweden. The poems took the shape of an installation inside a local gardening school, where she spent time writing about all the feelings around the environment she has experienced, the people she has talked with and the dream diaries she started to record. Intervening in the space, a technic that the artist often does in her practice, makes the physicality of the floating poems oddly present, which looks melancholic and impulsive at the same time.

Peilian Lis First weeks in Ockelbo contained visits at Gävle Konstcentrum, Gaffel studio collective, Backbeatbolaget Sandviken and Länsmuseet. And last week we did a presentation of the Optic-project and Peilians art at Wij trädgårdar. The next coupe of weeks will focus on Peilians work with an installation and a collaboration with the local blacksmith in Ockelbo. 🔥

“Peilian Li is a Suisse-Chinese artist and writer. Her works forgo ordinary logic in favour of an onirical elation of ideas. As a writer, her texts have a strong visual impact, and as an artist, her artworks integrate literature. Her work is often informed by Game theory, the relationship between the game and life or reality and fiction, presented with constant ambiguity, is the narration style that intrigues her the most.”
