Darkplace

Darkplace Presented as a unified audiovisual work, Darkplace’s live set places the music within its visual universe.

Animated music videos are projected throughout the performance, creating a cinematic backdrop that evolves with each song. Two performers occupy the foreground, using bowed guitar as the primary instrument to build droning, emotive soundscapes. The live set becomes a moving installation — part concert, part visual narrative.

Maratornen! Started off as an art school project in a course called ”Offentliga Rum”. I got this idea that it would be so cool to do something great with the Swedish alarm signal called ”Hesa Fredrik”. I built a model of the tower and designed a new signal sound. Made like an infomercial launching this new towers and this later inspired me to write the first Darkplace album ”About the End of the World”

All scenes are painted in Procreate with an iPad pro + Apple pencil. Painted over photos taken by Canon EOS 650d, or my iphones. The finished paintings are color corrected in Adobe Premiere. Some paintings are animated with parallax zooming, some with frame by frame and some paintings are animated with Runway. It’s all mounted and finalized in Premiere Pro.

Music:
All music recorded and mixed/mastered in Reason 14. Recorded in a living room with Artura MiniFuse 2. Guitars are lined with amp simulation. Main guitars are played with bow.
