Chapter 1
"The Mysterious Bang"
It was a normal school day for Arouki Yun, He was taking a quick nap when boom a huge sound alerted all the students in the class.
When Arouki looked out his window he saw a shadow towering over the school with glowing eyes and a murderous aura. The school was immediately on lock down, students started evacuating the school but Arouki was still curious about the huge shadow. When he started to get up from his seat to evacuate another loud bang lit up the room, Arouki got even more curious about the loud bangs but he thought it was nothing and went home and told his mom Meshino the news.
After that his best friend Souno Koshi called him and asked if hes okay.
He replied with "yes, im fine" and took a quick nap. When he woke up news about the huge shadow had already spread, some had speculated it was the start of an apocalypse but it didnt bother Arouki that much. He got ready for school the next day. After he went he heard murmurs about the incident yesterday everywhere. He decided to ignore all of it and focus on class, after school ended he walked home to find his dad waiting for him and stated that they were going hiking tomorrow.
Arouki was thrilled that he got to join his dad in hiking and immediately agreed to go with his dad, He was so excited that he couldn’t fall asleep and ended up staying awake until the next morning. The next morning his dad knocked on his door and told him to get ready and that they were gonna go hiking soon. Arouki got ready and enthusiastically jumped in the car with his dad, his dad told him that the name of the moutain was “Kuroyama veil“ a mysterious mountain with many myths and legends that remain unconfirmed.
This instantly peaked Arouki's intrest and he couldnt wait until arriving at the mountain. His dad said that the drive was gonna be around 3-4 hours, he suggested that he take a quick nap to pass the time since the area had no signal for him to use his phone. Arouki understood and tried to sleep for a bit, but this uneasy feeling was nudging at him. A little later he heard a gentle voice saying “Arouki, were here time to wake up kiddo”. Arouki wakes up, blinking at towering cedar trunks. The forest was quiet - Too quiet. His dad points down an narrow track to an ancient torii, half sunken in moss.
As they went down Arouki felt as if the air was thick and alive. There were chattering waterfalls echo behind them. Not just water, but almost whispers. Suddenly his dads face goes pale. "This path... Its not on the trail map" As they step beneath the torii, The lights dim. Across the stone threshold, the forest hushes further. A veil of mist parts, revealing... What? A shrine? A face? A shadow?. Aroukis dad has no words, his mouth opens and closes almost like a fish gasping for air. Arouki tries to ask his dad what's going on "Dad.. Whats goin-" his dad covers his mouth and whispers in his ear "Son this is not good, try not to make any sound.
Were gonna try to get back to the car". Arouki starts trembling in fear and whispers back to his dad "Get behind that tree, I have something to tell you." They hide behind the tree and Arouki tells his dad the incident with the massive shadow and the loud booms, Arouki mentions that his friends told him that they saw the shadow that looks almost like a humongous bird with limbs flying towards a mountain that they couldn't see clearly because it was too far away. They also told him that the mountain had tons of fog almost like a veil..
Arouki speculates that the shadow was heading towards the mountain they were gonna hike on.
His dad mumbles "The reason why this mountain is called Kuroyama Veil is because it has a veil of fog that covers the entirety of the mountain…” Arouki says “Yes dad, thats why i think that creature is on this mountain..” Arouki’s dad confirms this observation by saying that the villagers near the mountain had mentioned something about hearing weird sounds during the night. Arouki says “Then dad, am i the only one who wants to figure out what in the world this thing is? I suggest we go deeper and find out.” His dad’s curiosity got the better of him and he says “Took the words right out of my mouth kid, were gonna find out what this thing is.” They hike dangerously deep into the trail not knowing what to expect when they stumble upon an ominous dark cave.
His dad says “This cave is so big i might be able to fit the entire titanic inside of this thing” Arouki chuckles listening to his dads comment. But Arouki says “Ok very funny dad but nows not the time to be cracking jokes, we need to find out what this thing is. I suggest we go inside and check if something is there.” They go inside and see a black color scaled creature with limbs a tail and wings. Arouki gasps and says “A… DRAGON?!!”
