A little backstory 🪇
It all began in 2021, in Stockholm at Slakthuset, during my very first Ya Hala Ya Hala label night. The club owner, Jocke reached out with an excited voice, “You’ve got to check out this act called Mondo Village. They’ll fit like a glove into your lineup.” Intrigued, I decided to book them, and that decision sparked something magnificent.
From the moment we met, our spirits intertwined. There was an undeniable connection, a shared energy that promised great things. Since that first encounter, Mondo Village has been a regular presence at our Ya Hala Ya Hala nights, bringing their signature sound and vibrant live performances that dazzled the audience each time.
I believed deeply in their talent and envisioned a moment where I would release them on our label. I planted the seed of that vision, knowing that the right time would come for us to release their music to the world.
Fast forward four years of hard work, lideation collaboration, and creativity, and that vision has blossomed into reality. This Friday, we proudly and officially present Mondo Village to the world as part of our label roster. Their “Marimba Selva” EP is ready to be shared, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the beauty we’ve nurtured together. Welcome on board, habibis ❤️🪬

Born out of desire to run this own independent label, Stockholm’s based Eiad Sayegh aka Bambook launched his new label: Ya Hala Ya Hala Records.
Having helped managing multiple records labels across the music industry landscape, it was just a matter of time for Ya Hala Ya Hala Records to happen. With authenticity at its core, the sound of Ya Hala Ya Hala is diverse and has lots to offer. The label exists to present a combination of sophisticated danceable music with remnants of Middles Eastern sounds, disco Rhythms, breakbeats, and new wave, stitched to preserving the aesthetics of its artists and the label acroamatic tastes.
The first releases of the young label include tracks and remixes by Autarkic, Doctor Dru, DC Salas, Kincaid, Finnebassen, Genish, Futurum, Moo Moonster, Amarcord, and Bambook.
Why Ya Hala Ya Hala?
Hala (هلا) is a warm welcoming slang greeting in some of the eastern dialects of Arabic (Levantine). Arabic roots are immaculate! Etymologically, Hala is derived from the Classical Arabic greeting “ Ahlan Wa Sahlan” (اهلًا وسهلا ), which is constructed from the two-letter root “hl”(هل), which means “to arrive”.
You walk towards your friend and say:
You: “Hala!”
Him/Her: “Ya Hala Ya Hala!”
The greeting has so much rhythm to it that I tend to use it as my default reply to any hello, hi, hej, hola, caio I get, convinced that the sound of it can convey its meaning to the "non-native Arabic speaker". Ya Hala Ya Hala has such a floating tempo and visual character that it was just a matter of time to put it into musical context and bring about the birth of Ya Hala Ya Hala Records.
