Our thoughts on this film is that My Five Year Plan needs space and time to find its audience in the cinema. Meaning go and see it because it's well made, thoughtful and entertaining. You will smile, laugh and reflect.

The documentary by Karin Wegsjö - one of Sweden's most well established documentary makers - is probably one of the few documentary makers that stay out of the way of their docs and lets the subject be the story. Yet, she is there lingering on the side - just enough for the subjects in her film to connect to the human behind the camera and not just a director.

From the line-up in this year's films - My Five Year Plan - is a cut above the rest because of its international context of the three Chinese women - two of which move to Sweden and Finland and the other, a member of the LGBTQ community stays back and lives her life and shapes her career in China.

My Five Year Plan is about society through family and the impacts of duty, obligation and what freedom really means - It is both responsibility and agency.

The film is a perfect date night film, couples cosy film, family film to take your Laolao with and have hot spicy ramen afterwards and talk about it. My Five Year Plan is in English with Swedish subtiles and will be showing in the following cinemas for a limited time only.
