VIS – Nordic Journal for Artistic Research is a digital journal created as a collaboration between Stockholm University of the Arts, SKH, and The Norwegian Artistic Research Programme (part of Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills). VIS – Nordic Journal for Artistic Research is a digital journal presenting artistic research, emphasising the importance of reflection that is interwov

en with artistic practice, thereby generating new knowledge. VIS is an open-access publication and uses the Research Catalogue publishing platform for its submission and peer-reviewing processes, as well as for its final publication. VIS holds an open call for every issue. Up to seven expositions are selected by the Editorial Committee for further peer-review. Submissions in the Scandinavian languages are actively encouraged, but VIS is also open to contributions in English. Following the appearance of its inaugural Issue 0 in spring 2018, VIS has produced two issues in every subsequent year. The journal is the result of a joint initiative by Stockholm University of the Arts, SKH and the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme (part of Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills).

🌟 Winner Announcement 🌟
VIS expositions wins 1st and 3rd place!

SAR Annual Prize for Excellent Research Catalogue Exposition 2025 first place goes to Annika Borg and her exposition “Seen from a place, developed from a point”. From the jury’s statement: “The exposition represents an outstanding exemplar of usage of the platform in modes of exposing and experiencing that are rich and differentiated”. The exposition was published in VIS #14, October 2025.

2nd place was awarded to Live Maria Roggen and Ingfrid Breie Nyhus for the exposition “(un)Romantic/Improvising interpretation”, published in the portal of Norwegian Academy of Music.

3rd place was awarded to Elina Koivisto for the exposition “Rethinking material relations through feminist architectural practice”. The exposition was published in VIS #14, October 2025.

VIS-expositioner tar första- och tredjepris!

SAR:s årliga pris för bästa exposition i Research Catalogue 2025 tilldelas Annika Borg för expositionen ”Sett fra et sted, utviklet fra et punkt”. Juryns motivering lyder: "Expositionen utgör ett enastående exempel på hur plattformen kan användas för att skapa rika och mångfacetterade sätt att presentera och uppleva konstnärlig forskning.” Expositionen publicerades i VIS #14 i oktober 2025.

Andrapriset går till Live Maria Roggen och Ingfrid Breie Nyhus för expositionen ”(un)Romantic/Improvising interpretation”, som publicerades i portalen för Norges musikhögskola.

Tredjepriset tilldelas Elina Koivisto för expositionen ”Omprövning av materiella relationer genom feministisk arkitekturpraktik”. Expositionen publicerades i VIS #14 i oktober 2025.

NEW ISSUE OF VIS // NYTT NUMMER AV VIS

VIS nummer 15 med tema ”MED SPRÅKET/MOT SPRÅKET/I SPRÅKET” publicerades 19 mars. Redaktör är Tale Næss, medredaktör: Michael Duch.

Numret innehåller åtta expositioner som på olika sätt går med språket eller mot språket, som utmanar språkliga konventioner, använder flerspråkiga strategier, eller utmanar och undersöker den roll språket spelar som länk mellan den konstnärliga praktiken och förmedlingen av den. Within the explosive power of touch, micro- and macro-perspectives are seamlessly connected across different scales. In a contemporary world that actively employs isolation and segmentation, exploring the power of touch in relation to artistic practice and expression is increasingly relevant.

We seek artistic research that places artistic practice at the heart of the enquiry. Here, artistic investigations and the relationship between art and the surrounding world form the starting point for reflective work.

Vi önskar Marie Fahlin välkommen som ny redaktionskommittémedlem!

Marie Fahlin är koreograf och har skapat ett stort antal koreografiska verk, såväl storskaliga projekt med många samarbetspartners som soloverk. Hennes verk tar form som dans, text och verk på papper och presenteras i en hybrid av utställning och föreställning. Hon har ett specifikt intresse för curatering och vad det kan göra i, och för, koreografi. Hon har lett och deltagit i flera konstnärliga forskningsprojekt och har doktorerat vid Stockholms konstnärliga högskola, SKH, och bedriver för närvarande ett forskningsprojekt finasierat av Vetenskapsrådet och SKH samt arbetar som adjunkt i koreografi vid SKH.

We are also pleased to welcome Marie Fahlin as a new member of the Editorial Committee!

Marie Fahlin is a choreographer and has created a large number of choreographic works, both large-scale projects with many collaborators and solo works. Her works take the form of dance, text and works on paper and are presented in a hybrid of exhibition and performance. She has a specific interest in curating and what it can do in, and for, choreography. She has led and participated in several artistic research projects and has a PhD from Stockholm University of the Arts, SKH. She is currently conducting a research project funded by the Swedish Research Council and SKH, and works as assistant lecturer in choreography at SKH.
