To avoid bankruptcy, this Peruvian football club brought together 1,000 sponsors and put them all on its shirt. ⚽️
Deportivo Municipal, a historic Lima club relegated to the third division, had lost its main sponsor. Instead of replacing it with another big brand, McCann Lima turned to the people who had always backed the club: its community.
One thousand local businesses became official sponsors, each paying between €50 and €100 for a place on a pixel-style grid printed directly onto the jersey.
The campaign raised €65,000 and went on to win a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions.
But the real idea was bigger than fundraising: when one major sponsor disappeared, the club made space for an entire community to take its place.
