Very happy news from Lviv: our Ukrainian-Swedish short fiction film "War Film Festival", directed by Oleksandra Horiienko, received two distinctions at WIZArt Film Festival 2026.
The film won the National Competition Audience Choice and a Ukrainian film critics guild Special Mention - “for a hilariously funny and sharply ironic (self-)reflection on contemporary Ukrainian cinema".
"War Film Festival" is a dark comedy about filmmakers making films about war while competing for attention and recognition. With sarcasm and self-irony, the film dares to look at the Ukrainian film industry from inside - at its ambitions, compromises, hypocrisy and absurdities.
What makes the film special is precisely this freedom to laugh at ourselves, even in the darkest times of war.
