MAGNUS JOHN ANDERSON – Ever There
A preview from the upcoming album YDRE
Ever There is a piano piece that Magnus John Anderson began writing when he was sixteen. Over time, bits and pieces came together – slowly, quietly – until the music found its final shape. It’s a reflective, spacious piece, rooted in memories of time spent in Ydre, Sweden.
“My family had a summer house there. I spent a lot of time in Ydre growing up. When I was twelve, that time came to an end. But the place never really left me.”
At the center of Ever There is the piano – Magnus’s primary instrument and oldest creative companion. His connection to the keys is physical, patient, and personal.
“I’ve always come back to the piano. It’s where I can think without words. The mechanics of it – the resistance of the keys, the weight of a soft note – help me understand what I’m feeling.”
The track was recorded in Berlin. Magnus plays piano, joined by Annika Blomfeldt on cello and Jan Strand, who contributed ambient textures and field recordings. The sound is calm and uncluttered. Every note is intentional, shaped by hand and by ear.
“Sometimes music takes time to reveal itself. Bits and fragments connect slowly, across years.”
Mixed in Dolby Atmos, the piece has depth and space without distractions. The cover shows a photo of Magnus with his family, taken the same year he stopped spending time in Ydre. Like the music, it holds something quiet that remains.
Ever There is a preview from YDRE – an upcoming album about place, memory, and how sound can carry both.
