Both Maria Grund's MORTAL SIN and Anna Kuru's THE FIRST FROST are on the list of the 30 best Crime novels of 2020, published by one of Sweden's largest newspapers Dagens Nyheter.

"Mortal Sin is a unique debut with a noir feeling that received The Swedish Academy of Crime's Debutant Prize of 2020."

"The First Frost is a brilliantly sharp story about a young female car mechanic in Kiruna. Debutant Anna Kuru depicts the male jargon at the service station so well that it makes you shudder, and no, it's not exaggerated."

Combining a strong character driven narrative with the majestic scenery of a remote Swedish, dark fictitious island in the Baltic sea, Grund’s writing grabs hold of the reader from start to finish. This is a fast paced, well-written and highly suspenseful debut novel.

Maria Grund, born and raised in a suburb of Stockholm, is a writer and screenwriter. She also has a Master of Fine Arts (New York University). Throughout her career she has worked mainly in the film and media industry, and for many years as the editor of the British media company The Smalls. After several years in London and New York, she now lives on the Swedish island of Gotland. MORTAL SIN is her first novel.
