What happened to Park Studios?
In March 2019, I had the honour of working at the legendary Park Studios (also known as Psykbunkern) in Stockholm, Sweden. A renowned space where artists like Robyn, Kent, The Hives, First Aid Kit, and Ane Brun have made iconic recordings.
I teamed up with the brilliant producer and engineer Stefan Boman to record a song called ”Homecoming” that I had composed for the tech company Advania. We recorded live drums with Sebastian Åberg, cello with Henrik Meierkord, and I (Leo Josefsson) played piano.
It was a bit of a bucket-list thing to work at Park Studios, and everything was looking very promising — both in my private life and as a producer. But suddenly, everything was about to change. Not only for me, but for the whole planet. The pandemic hit.
Everything came to a halt, as it did for so many others. The iconic studio was about to take a different path. But change isn't always a bad thing.
Fast forward to June 2025, I had the privilege of revisiting the studio. Some things were the same, but there had been major changes. An iconic brand had moved in and made the space its own. Park Studios is now the home of Genelec.
I was introduced to Atmos, which was an amazing experience, and it reignited my love for sound all over again. Am I also on a different path now? What has become very clear to me is that without change there can be no progression, and without heritage there can be no legacy.
A warm thank you to Genelec for keeping it real!
