I’ve had the incredible honour of working with Rednex for over 25 years. In 2002, I produced a new version of Cotton Eye Joe – a bold reboot of the original that brought the iconic hit into a new era.

Fast forward to 2024, and I had the privilege of producing the official version of the viral Gega phenomenon: Rednex & Razi - Gegagedigedagedago (Cotton Eye Joe Viral Version). A meme-powered remix that took over TikTok, broke global records, and became the most streamed song in the world.

Last year, we sadly lost our dear friend and long-time Rednex member Anders ”Dagger” Sandberg. In his memory, the 2002 version has now been re-released as Cotton Eye Joe (Dagger Remix).

In this video, I’ll take you behind the scenes from the Kiss the Needle studio as I remaster that version for today’s music platforms, using both emotion and precision to honour the legacy of the band—and the man.
