2016 was the first year since around 2009 that I didn't spend at least 12 hours a day in the cave that I used to call my studio. I used to put all of my time and dedication into doing my bands and the studio for so many years and even though I had some great times in that place, and achieved a great deal of things - trying to make ends meet, working every waking hour, still not earning enough to go by, going on tour in between sessions, rehearsing, writing for and recording my own bands, ending up living in the studio from time to time due to money - this together with my complicated personal life all eventually got a bit out of control as some might know and it all started to put too much strain on my mental health. I had to turn my back on it and drastically change my priorities before loosing myself, and 2016 was all about that.
I'm extremely grateful for all the opportunities I had to work with some of the coolest bands from around Sweden and immensely proud over what I accomplished with the help of a bunch of cheap mikes in a rehearsal space and the trust of some fellow musicians. I'm also extremely happy to see where some of these recordings have taken both my bands and others. Even if only for a fraction of time, together we built up what became a very popular studio for the Swedish underground hardcore/punk/metal scene, which is pretty fu***ng amazing to me.
It's been a big part of my life and I sure want to keep in touch with that part, so for 2017 I'm gonna try to get back into it again but focus more on quality rather than the quantity of work. Already got some interesting bands in the calendar, both for studio work in Sweden and in Germany, and looking for more stuff to work on. If your band needs help with recording/producing/mixing, please let me know!
Here's a bandcamp playlist with some of the recordings I'm the most proud of.
Happy 2017.
