Counting only 365 days from initial drawings to final delivery, founder Teun van Leijsen has - rather efficiently - brought his family home to life using pre-fab construction methods 🔨
Working with on the build, the dwelling rolled out of the factory as a series of pre-made parts. Pieced together bit by bit, CLT walls wrap around the Douglas fir frame to outline the silhouette of a simple pitched structure - the kind that populate Alpine landscapes.
Solar panelled roofs enclose the plan, stretching out over the exterior elevations to provide shade to the wooden veranda that wraps around the base of the building.
Speaking to Teun on the design, he shares, “sustainability was really important to me. Through my work as the founder of , I have been thinking for years about how to live comfortably using less energy. We applied that same mindset to the house.”
As such, the design focuses on bolstering the insulation, and in turn, ensuring efficient heating of the home. “Better insulation means lower energy demand. From the very beginning, the goal was to build an energy neutral home. That’s why we chose extra thick walls and an extra thick roof.”
