In quite the re-brand, have spent the last decade elevating fine bone china from typically frilly, floral tea sets to chic designer tableware.

In their latest venture however, the husband and wife craft duo extend their material palette to storm-felled wood in a debut collection of hand-crafted furniture.

Taking co-founder Jeremy Brown back to his woodworking roots, the nine-strong series features an array of foraged timbers including elm, ash, sycamore and burr oak - drawing up an eclectic choice of grains, textures and tones for the studio to sculpt with.

Architecture practice package the extension of a Stoke Newington family terrace in swathes of glass, pale framing and muted brickwork in an effort to gracefully navigate neighbouring sight-lines.

“The dwelling is a mid-terraced Victorian house, connected to a property that sits 1.5m lower in height, which introduced complexities in terms of design and planning,” the design team explain.

Treading as lightly as possible, Ambient deftly craft a new addition formed largely of floor-to-ceiling glass doors that deepen the dwelling’s connection to its south-facing garden.

Similarly, the side in-fill is topped with an L-shaped glazed rooflight that naturally minimises the perceived massing of the build while also drawing natural light into the home not only from the side, but also from above.

Pitched cliffside, this modest cabin from Filipe Pina Arquitectura is one of three new retreats dotted across the Serra da Esperança mountain range in Portugal.

Infamously unstable, the design team navigated the challenging terrain with simple, modular builds formed as equilateral triangular prisms - “where the bathroom and storage volume is the only element separating the living and sleeping areas.”

Brushed aluminium rings cascade into a conical formation to define the rippled Chancery Pendant Lamp from 💡

Originally designed by as a bespoke fitting for its Chancery House venture, the pendant and its wall variation take on a sculptural, industrial quality that sits starkly in cosy timber environments.

But despite its physical presence, Chancery’s glow is soft. Ambient. Curating calm in any space.

Counting only 365 days from initial drawings to final delivery, founder Teun van Leijsen has - rather efficiently - brought his family home to life using pre-fab construction methods 🔨

Working with on the build, the dwelling rolled out of the factory as a series of pre-made parts. Pieced together bit by bit, CLT walls wrap around the Douglas fir frame to outline the silhouette of a simple pitched structure - the kind that populate Alpine landscapes.

Solar panelled roofs enclose the plan, stretching out over the exterior elevations to provide shade to the wooden veranda that wraps around the base of the building.

Speaking to Teun on the design, he shares, “sustainability was really important to me. Through my work as the founder of , I have been thinking for years about how to live comfortably using less energy. We applied that same mindset to the house.”

As such, the design focuses on bolstering the insulation, and in turn, ensuring efficient heating of the home. “Better insulation means lower energy demand. From the very beginning, the goal was to build an energy neutral home. That’s why we chose extra thick walls and an extra thick roof.”

After centuries submerged under thick volcanic ash, a Viking settlement was eventually dug out from the debris in the 1930s by a group of Nordic archaeologists.

Quick to protect this unique piece of Icelandic history, a shelter was erected, preserving the ruins and the likes of Stöng - which was one of the largest local farms at the time.

More recently, Stöng has undergone a complete restoration, receiving a new defensive shield designed to carefully preserve its historic bulk while providing a unique cultural visitor experience.

As such, of SP(R)INT STUDIO developed a wooden grid roof that while protective, is still permeable, allowing the breeze to enter freely.

expertly curate calm inside this Victorian terrace with a palette of varying neutral tones and textures.

Beyond the interior refurbishment, the project also entailed the design and implementation of a rear extension to improve flow and spatial connectivity. Mimicking the minimalist nature of the interior, the new addition is intentionally unfussy, its full-width bulk stretching the floor-plan out into the garden.

Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors enclose this form, inviting light and shadow deep into the plan to animate the interior elevations washed in a mottled microcement.
