Short Film Script Competition - ONE WEEK LEFT

Background:

Twice a year, the Umeå Movie Making Club produces a 5–25 minute short film — and now we’re looking for our next script!

Documentary proposals are also welcome.

Important:
– Scripts should be suitable for filming in April in northern Sweden; outdoor scenes may include snow.
– You’ll need a Google account to submit using the link above.
– If you don’t have one, or if you have any questions, contact us at [email protected]
– This is not paid; however, depending on your location, the Club will pay for the winning screenwriter's trip to Umeå to help develop the project.

Twice a year, the Umeå Movie Making Club produces a 5–20 minute short film — and now we’re looking for our next script!

Our films are regularly screened at festivals, and this season we’re opening our script competition to the general public.

Submit your script by Sunday, January 11 at 23:59 (Sweden time).
You may write in English, Swedish, or both. If you write in Swedish, you may be asked to provide an English translation. Documentary proposals are also welcome. You do not need to live in Umeå to participate.

The chosen script will be voted on Tuesday, January 20, and the finished film will premiere in June 2026.

Umeå Movie Making Club producerar två kortfilmer per år — och nu letar vi efter vårt nästa manus!

Våra filmer visas regelbundet på festivaler, och den här säsongen öppnar vi vår manustävling för allmänheten.

Skicka in ditt manus senast söndag 11 januari kl. 23:59.
Du kan skriva på svenska, engelska eller båda språken. Om du skriver på svenska kan du bli ombedd att lämna en engelsk översättning. Dokumentärförslag är också välkomna. Du behöver inte bo i Umeå för att delta.

Det valda manuset röstas fram tisdagen den 20 januari, och den färdiga filmen får premiär i juni 2026.

Viktigt:
– Manuset bör vara anpassat för att filmas i april i Norrland, där det kan ligga snö vid utomhusscener.

Join our bilingual improv and screen acting class -- now in its fourth year! Wednesday evenings, 18:00 - 20:00, starting Oct 15. We teach acting according to the curricula and ideas of masters of the art such as Keith Johnstone and Mel Churcher. It's loads of fun, and great preparation if you want to be in a film or perform with our Giggling Goose Improv troupe. All are welcome -- no experience necessary, and you can take the class whether you speak Swedish or English (or both). You'll laugh a lot and make great friends.

Denna kurs riktar sig till dig som vill lära dig agera framför kameran och på scen, både improviserat och med regi och manus. Tillsammans med erfarna lärare från Umeå Movie Making Club ges denna kurs till alla som vill lära sig skådespeleri. Kursen ges på engelska.

Två gånger om året skapar Umeå Movie Making Club en kortfilm på 5-20 minuter. Våra filmer visas regelbundet på festivaler. Den här säsongen går vi ut med en förfrågan om manus till allmänheten. På tisdag den 2 september röstar vi fram en film att skapa, med premiär i januari 2026. Skicka in ditt manus senast onsdag den 20 augusti kl 23:59 (Umeå-tid). Manus kan skrivas på engelska, svenska eller både och. Dokumentära förslag kommer att accepteras. Du behöver inte bo i Umeå för att skicka in ett manus. Manus ska vara anpassade för att kunna filmas i norrländskt vinterväder, helst mest inomhus. Skicka in ditt manus via länken nedan. Observera: du behöver ett Google-konto för att skicka in där. Our legendary improv comedy course is being held twice, over two weekends this summer. Join us!
