After transiting through Hong Kong, we arrived at Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport on Friday night, just ahead of Typhoon Dolphin. 🌀

By Saturday afternoon, we could already feel the weather changing as Dolphin drew closer. The winds were picking up, accompanied by sudden, heavy downpours.

By Sunday morning, the edge of Dolphin was just north of Taoyuan Airport. The clouds were moving incredibly fast and hung surprisingly low, while the intense rain made it almost impossible to see the runway in the distance.

Despite the challenging conditions, Taoyuan Airport remained operational, with both flight and ground operations continuing as normal.

Amidst all this, I managed to capture a few shots of EVA Air’s “Jolly Jet” being towed past our hotel as she made her way to the gate on the south side of the airport. ✈️

This trip was definitely an eye-opening experience — our first time getting this close to a typhoon. Certainly an experience we won’t forget! 🌀

Sitting atop the Sky Bridge at HKIA, enjoying the spectacular views, when suddenly this Bangkok Airways Airbus A319 taxied right beneath us! ✈️

Yes, the aircraft is a little off-centre—the pilot had just completed the turn onto the taxiway from behind us. 😄

It was such a surreal feeling being in Hong Kong, just 24 hours after spending the afternoon shooting airside at Changi Airport. From one airport to another, the aviation adventures never stop! 📸✈️

We had an absolutely splendid afternoon at Airside with the amazing CMC team from Changi Airport. A huge thank you to everyone for making this opportunity possible. It was truly an incredible experience and one that I’ll remember for a very long time! 🙌✈️

After a fruitful 9-hour layover in Hong Kong with Radar AeroMedia it was finally time to board our flight to Taipei! ✈️

This was our first time flying with EVA Air on their Airbus A330-300, and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the Economy Class cabin felt. The 2-4-2 configuration definitely made the journey feel less cramped and more comfortable.

The IFE may have shown its age, but for a short flight like this, it really wasn’t an issue. What stood out most was just how smooth and quick the flight was. Before we knew it, we were already arriving in Taipei!

A simple yet enjoyable flight, and definitely one we’ll remember fondly. 💚✈️

Last Friday, Radar AeroMedia and I boarded Singapore Airlines SQ874, operated by 9V-SHW, bound for Hong Kong before connecting onward to Taipei with EVA Air.

It may have been an unconventional way to get to Taiwan, but the routing gave us plenty of time to do some photography at HKIA — and, best of all, the opportunity to capture our very own aircraft departing for Singapore that afternoon.

Thank you for the smooth journey, Hotel Whiskey! ✈️ It was certainly an unusual adventure, but one that turned into a truly memorable trip! 🇭🇰🇹🇼🇸🇬

Today marks Plane’s Portraits’ 12th anniversary — and my 44th birthday. ✈️🎂

What started 12 years ago as a simple merging of two passions — my love for photography and aeroplanes — has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined.
Along the way, I’ve gained so much knowledge about both photography and aviation. I’ve learned to be more patient, to appreciate the moments that come our way, and to understand that sometimes, in life, we simply can’t get everything we want. But more importantly, it’s the people I’ve met along this journey who have become the greatest reward of all. Aviation has brought so many incredible people into my life, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

This past year has been a particularly special one for both myself and APP. From the AeroLens Project at Singapore Airshow, to the Singapore Airlines Trading Card Project, and now Sky Watchers with Changi Airport, each experience has given us the opportunity to work alongside leading members of the aviation industry. These collaborations have taught me not only the importance of working together, but also how we, as aviation photographers, can play our part in supporting and contributing to the industry we love.

For me personally, this year has also been a journey of growth. I’ve always been an introvert and naturally shy, but the experiences of the past year have pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. I’ve become more confident, more open, and perhaps even a little more extroverted when meeting new people.

And to all of you who have come up to me at airports, events or spotting locations just to say hi and introduce yourselves — I genuinely commend you for having the courage to do so. You may think it’s a small gesture, but it truly means a lot to me.

To my friends, teammates and everyone who has shared this journey with me, here are some moments from our past year together — selected from the seemingly endless ocean of spam shots we’ve taken. 😂📸.

Every photo represents a memory, a moment, and most importantly, people who mean the world to me. Thank you for every laugh, every adventure, every spotting session, every conversation, and every memory we’ve created toget

任務完成!What an incredible long weekend it was! ✈️🇹🇼

Travelling to Taiwan via HKG with Radar AeroMedia and Jonathan Pek, we had an absolute blast chasing some gorgeous aircraft—and even got our first taste of what the edge of a typhoon looks and feels like! 🌧️💨

Of course, STARLUX’s brand-new silver AIRSOYAMA A350-1000 was right at the top of our “must-catch” list, and we certainly didn’t disappoint ourselves, coming home to Singapore with memory cards absolutely packed with photos of this beauty! 😍📸

What really stood out to me was seeing how dramatically her livery transforms under different lighting conditions. From subtle metallic tones to striking reflections, every angle reveals something different and really highlights the incredible thought and design process that went into creating this masterpiece.

And with the gold version coming soon, I’m already looking forward to seeing her in person when I return to Taiwan this December for New Year’s Eve! 🇹🇼✨

Until then, I guess it’s time to start editing all those photos… 😆📸
