Peck Tiong Choon has expanded its crane fleet with the addition of a Liebherr Construction LTM 1120-4.1. This new mobile crane, with a lifting capacity of 120 t and a 66-m telescopic boom, is now the most powerful four-axle model in the company’s fleet.

“As part of our involvement in major projects like airport expansion, mass rapid transit (MRT) and other infrastructure developments, we decided to invest in the new LTM 1120-4.1. As the most powerful four-axle crane on the market, it offers the capacity we need,” said Peck Tiong Choon.

🙌 Work has started on the US$8 billion expansion project at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands.

Las Vegas Sands celebrated the groundbreaking of its new ultra-luxurious resort and entertainment destination at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on Tuesday (15 July). Construction of the project is expected to be completed in mid-2030, with the opening estimated in early 2031.

Designed by Safdie Architects, the new development will comprise two main components: a 570-suite luxury hotel tower featuring a multi-level Skyloop, and a podium housing a 15,000-seat arena that will enhance the live entertainment scene in Asia.

Best practices will be adopted throughout the construction process, including the use of materials with reduced environmental impact – such as low-carbon concrete and recycled steel – to lower the project’s upfront environmental footprint.

🌱 The new Comcentre: Singapore’s first end-to-end carbon neutral development, from the design to construction to operations.

Singtel and Lendlease have broken ground on the new S$3 billion Comcentre, located in the heart of Singapore's Orchard Road precinct. Scheduled to be completed in 2028, it is set to become the first end-to-end carbon neutral development in the country, from the design to construction to operations.

Lendlease is providing development, construction and property and asset management services. The project employs integrated digital delivery, which uses innovative technologies to streamline work processes, enhance collaboration and improve efficiency across the entire building lifecycle. Advanced construction methods will also be adopted to reduce on-site labour needs by up to 30% and accelerate project delivery by up to 20%.

🇮🇩 Looking to enter or invest in the Indonesian construction market? Don’t miss AKI Connect, a business matchmaking forum hosted by the Indonesian Contractor Association (Asosiasi Kontraktor Indonesia - AKI).

✅ The AKI Connect will be held at the Swissotel P*K in Jakarta on 14 August 2025, in conjunction with the 57th ACF (ASEAN Constructors Federation) Meeting. The event will allow you to connect directly with local stakeholders, especially Indonesian government agencies and contractors that build most of infrastructure projects in the country.

With the Indonesian government reallocating a significant portion of its budget from infrastructure to other pressing sectors, private sector involvement has become increasingly vital. Despite reduced public funding, infrastructure remains a key driver of long-term economic growth, particularly in a vast and diverse country like Indonesia.

✅ Who attend AKI Connect? The event is ideal for all construction professionals: developers, engineers, investors, contractors, equipment manufacturers, rental companies/dealers, technology providers, and more.

✅ Why AKI Connect? The event will provide you with unique opportunities:
1). Gain detailed insights into Indonesia’s PPP (public-private partnership) projects open for investment, including the regulatory procedures, financial framework, partnership models, etc.

2). Meet the stakeholders/contractors (AKI members) involved in Indonesia’s PPP projects and engage with them in person through one-to-one sessions. You will be able to explore potential partnerships that support the country’s infrastructure development.

3). Get in touch with other ACF members. Apart from Indonesia, ACF members also comprise contractors from Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand.

✅ How to participate/register:
1. You can attend as a forum delegate, or
2. You can also be a sponsor
3. Register your interest here: https://forms.gle/mzgV7QguSmMjdP5y8 (more information on the payment process and appointments for one-to-one sessions will be provided after your registration).

Australia-based global manufacturer of pick and carry cranes, Franna - A Terex Brand, recently announced its entry into Southeast Asia – a region identified as having major growth opportunities in the brand’s continuing international expansion. As part of this move, Aidan O’Neill has been appointed as regional sales manager for the Southeast Asian market.

“The versatility of our pick and carry cranes allows us to deliver lifting solutions across a wide range of applications – including more complex environments such as mining sites with rough terrain, access limitations and height restrictions, as well as construction projects where lifting and transporting loads simultaneously is a key advantage. They are particularly useful in congested or confined sites where traditional cranes with outriggers may be impractical," explained Mr O’Neill.

Having a strong market position in Australia, Franna has also entered the Indian market, the largest pick and carry crane market in the world, with a range of cost-effective, compact models tailored to local requirements and designed with safety in mind.
